So there’s a new art exhibit at the Peoria Public Library and the reception was last Saturday. I had to run some errands and by the time I got there I had exactly 33 minutes before I had to go to work to meet some artists who were there, get some random shots of the art, take obligatory crowd photos, see my friends Mae and Jon and eat a heart shaped cookie.
Can I possibly get all this stuff done in just a little over a half an hour? Well, let’s see!
The Peoria Public LIbrary
Here we are at the Peoria Public Library. I love this building, but there’s no time to stand and gaze at it now, the clock is ticking, so let’s just scoot down the stairs and here we are at the gallery in the basement of the building and here’s the entrance to the exhibit! Time to start moving!
Obligatory Crowd Shot Number One and Blair
There’s a nice crowd here for this reception and Blair Clark was in charge of the reception that day. We think we may have crossed paths at sometime in our lives, but I had no time to chit-chat. She said I was free to take pictures, so let’s quickly move on to Artist Number One.
Artist Number One
This is Laura Burdess with her work titled, “Midnight Gardener” and it was photographed by Don Rosser. Very nice and I’d love to study it more, but we must keep moving along!
Random Art Photos
Here’s some random photos of art, all the artwork on display is fabulous and each one has an artist’s statement which explains the thought behind the art. I wish I had time to read every one, but I’m already nervous about the time this is taking me, so I’ll come back later and read all of them.
Artist Number Two
This is my old friend, Stormy Monday! Stormy used to write and create art for my magazine People of Peoria back in the early ‘90’s and it’s been over twenty years since I’ve seen this guy! His painting is called, “Funny Farm.” I’d love to catch up with Stormy but time is not on my side today, get hold me later, Stormy and we’ll get together soon!
Obligatory Crowd Shot Number Two
Nice to see such a large crowd show up for this. I’d love to mingle and chat with people, but there’s no time for that, I need to find another artist!
Artist Number Three
Our next featured artist is Michael Ragan and he has two mixed media pieces of art on disply titled, “PTSD.”
More Random Art Photos
Here’s more photos I took while running around this exhibit like someone who’s had way too much caffeine in their system.
Holy Shitballs, I Really Need To Start Wrapping This Shit Up Or I’ll Be late For Work!
Okay, here’s all the other artists I met while running around like someone who just Hoovered an eight ball of coke! From the top: LIz Barnes with “Sleep,” Chloe White with “Close the door,” Jay Babin with “Brain Drain,” SJ Boyd with “Dark Times” and last but certainly not least, Barbie Perry with her wonderful interactive art titled, “Seem.” I wish I could feature more artists, but I really have to get into work now.
These Are Definitely The Last Photos I’m Taking!
I feel bad because I can’t get every piece of art, but here’s some more, you want to see everything, get down there and take a look for yourself!
Oh Shit, There’s Jon and Mae...
I have to take their photo! Hi Jon and Mae...bye Jon and Mae!
Chelsie!
Chelsie Tamms from Lettering Works has art in the exhibit, I didn’t know she was featured in this show. Well, I have to stop and take a few photos of her exhibit, I love her artwork and it’s a good excuse to put up a link to the Marty Monologues facecrack page where her art for the show is featured. Chelsie isn’t here because she’s in England. Cheerio, Chelsie, hope you’re having fun across the pond!
Aw, Fuck It, I’m Officially Late For Work Now, I Might As Well...
Eat this heart shaped cookie. It was delicious!
