One of my favorite Christmas stories is the day I met my friend Amber. It happened nine years ago on December 25th, 2010. Last year I wrote the whole story up and you can read it by clicking here.
Every year we go back to the Last Chance bar to celebrate the day we met and this year Amber and Joe are home for Christmas, so we decided to go and have a holiday lunch and some beers and celebrate the very first day that we met. And so, here we go!
Here we are at the Last Chance Bar & Grill. I love this neon sign on the side of the building. It’s not as impressive in the daytime, but I still like it.
Alright, I came out here with Amber and Joe and we’re going to be meeting Amber’s parents here for the ninth annual Amberversary celebration!
There’s just one car on the lot, so it looks like we have the place to ourselves! Let’s go in and let the festivities begin!
The reason there was just one car on the lot is that the place doesn’t open till 3PM! We got there around 1PM because my brother is having a Christmas dinner at 5PM.
Amber’s parents showed up and after calling around to see if any other place was open, we decided to improvise and spend the afternoon at the MBIP World Headquarters which is nearby.
There’s Joe, Diane, Amber and Chuck at the MBIP World Headquarters!
We had a fun afternoon celebrating the Ninth Amberversary.
We exchanged gifts and had a nice time just hanging out and sharing conversation. We discussed a variety of interesting topics including Amy Sedaris, music, art, guitars, socks, Vietnam, Jane Fonda, policemen and Proctology.
Spending an afternoon like this reminds me that the greatest gift you can get is something that’s not available in stores or the interwebs, it’s the gift of friendship and I’m lucky to have a friend like Amber along with her husband Joe and her parents Chuck and Diane!
Happy Amberversary, Amber! I’m grateful that we met nine years ago and thanks for being my friend!
