Live from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, The Apollo Theatre with special guests, Greg Batton and Phenomenal Phil!
Now, please welcome, from Main Street in Peoria, Illinois, The Apollo Theatre!
Here we are at the magnificent Apollo Theatre on Main Street and the marquee says it all: Phenomenal Phil With Greg Batton!
I can’t wait to see this show, here’s a little preview of Greg Batton at the Jukebox Comedy Club and Phenomenal Phil on Good Day Central Illinois.
There’s Phil’s poster in the window and he’s got a whole crew in the lobby to check people in.
The crew posed for the MBIP Camera and they are from left: Barb, Shawn, Frandy and Mindy.
Right off the bat I see some familiar faces in the theatre, there’s Steven with his wife Cecile, Terry, Eileen and Yort, Chris and a backstage shot of the two stars of the show tonight: Greg Batton and Phenomenal Phil!
As you can see, there’s a full house here tonight!
Seated next to me are Phil’s mom, Carolyn and his friend Karen who came all the way from Rockford to see the show! Check out the program that was made for the show, this is like a Broadway production! Very cool!
Ånd now, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the comedic stylings of…Greg Batton!
As most of you know, Greg Batton is the co-host on the Greg and Dan Show on WMBD radio. It’s a great and entertaining show and I’ve always wanted to see Greg do his solo stand-up act. I knew he’d be good, but this was great!
Greg involves the audience which gives his act a little bit of an improvisational feel. This is a real original stand-up comedy show. Greg doesn’t tell jokes, he tells funny stories, involves the audience and his timing is perfect, which is key to comedy.
If you combined Spalding Gray with Jack Benny you’d have something close to Greg’s stand-up act.
He had the crowd and myself roaring and if this would’ve been the whole show, I would’ve felt like I had gotten my money’s worth. But there’s more to come!
After a brief intermission with some fun film clips that were shown on the screen, it’s time to welcome the star of the show…Phenomenal Phil!
Phil came out and dazzled the crowd from the very beginning.
Like Greg, he involves the audience and brings them onstage and he is truly mind-blowing!
If you remember the Amazing Kreskin, this is similar, but it’s done with more humor and it’s a ton of fun!
Here’s more shots of Phil in action and as you can see, the audience is definitely a fun part of this mind-blowing show!
I can’t find words to fully describe the unique experience of a Phenomenal Phil mind reading show, you have to experience it yourself and if you do, you might just end up being a part of the show!
Check out the Phenomenal Phil website for more information.
Here’s Phil and his crew after the show, from left: Seth, Barb, Mindy, Phil, Shawn, Carolyn and Phil’s wife, Frandy.
Thanks for a wonderful and entertaining show, Phil! It was…well…Phenomenal!
