The next Marty Monologues show is happening this month on Sunday, October 20th at the Apollo Theatre. Then I’m doing a show on Wednesday, October 23rd in New York City at the Kraine Theater.
The blog is going to be on vacation for this month as I prepare for these shows.
I’ll be putting up weekly updates here as to how the show is coming along and today is the first of these updates. Keep on scrolling to see what’s happening so far!
The Show - “45 Minutes of Fame”
This new Marty Monologues show is called, “45 Minutes of Fame - Andy Warhol Told Me I’d Be Famous For 15 Minutes, He Just Didn’t Say It Would Happen Three Tines.”
I’m going to be telling three stories about having a trifecta of 15 minutes of fame in my life.
The stories are about when I was on the Today Show with a game I created with my friend Greg Owens and it was also the first time I visited New York City in 1986, the second 15 minutes of fame are about my fanzine fishwrap, which I published for six years while living in New York City and the final 15 minutes of fame revolve around my blog, A Guy Walks Into 365 Bars which achieved international attention after a write-up in the NY Daily News and then being put on an international wire via the UPI Wire Service.
The opening and closing songs are performed live by Sarah Marie Dillard and Brandon Mooberry from Sarah & The Underground and there’s live DJ tunes before and during the show spun by DJ juanGoblin.
In New York, the live music will be performed by Chris Erikson and Cliff Westfall.
All the artwork is created and designed by Chelsie Tamms of Lettering Works.
If you attend the show you’ll receive a program and a press kit package with copies of articles from all three 15 minutes of fame.
Three lucky audience members will also receive a monogrammed snack bowl filled with a delicious snack mix made by me live at the show!
Your ticket also gives you access to the after-show party around the corner at Kenny’s Westside Pub with free flatbread pizza!
The after-party in New York is being held at Slainte at 9:30PM.
