There’s a new culinary experience happening here in Peoria on University Street near Pioneer Park. It’s equal parts restaurant, cooking school, party room, therapy center and a brand new way to socialize and meet people while sharing in some delicious meals. The hostess and chef for this new dining and socializing phenomenon is Becca Hearn and she bills herself and her place of business as The Untamed Chef. People Of Peoria: Person Number 21—Becca - The Untamed Chef
Becca is the co-owner of The Untamed Chef along with her husband and sous chef, Bryce. Becca went to the Chicago Culinary Arts School and in addition to that education, she has also learned valuable cooking skills from her travels to Asia and the Middle East. The Untamed Chef is open to the public every day for lunch and each day has a different entree with side dishes and you can view the lunch calendar here.
You can also attend cooking classes, schedule dinner parties where you can dine in and join in on the cooking and every Thursday there’s the Fake Family Dinner where you can dine with friends and meet other people in a communal dinner. There's going to be a special MBIP Fake Family dinner featured here next month, so stay tuned for that! Who’s your favorite chef? That would have to be Gordon Ramsay. I love the way he thinks out of the lunch box!
What’s one of your favorite Peoria restaurants? Bryce and I just ate a delicious dinner at Jimador in Campustown and it was fantastic!
Who’s your favorite Peoria person? I don’t even have to think about this one, it’s Joey Rowland! He’s my brother and one of the most generous and unselfish people on this planet! Just a great person!
What’s your favorite curse word? I have my own personal curse word that I made up myself and the word is, poonsnatch. I use it for all occasions and it’s a catch-all curse word that’s all my own!
