Okay, I’m writing this introduction at 6:07 in the morning but I won’t be able to finish it till a few hours later because I’m doing a guest segment on Good Day Central Illinois this morning and I have to go early because I’m bringing chicken wings from Kenny’s Westside Pub that need to be heated up and I’m also doing a “behind the scenes” blog from Good Day Central Illinois so that you can see what happens behind the cameras at that popular morning show starring, Mark Welp, Shelbey S. Roberts and Lauren Rainson. Okay, I’ll finish this when I get back!
And now I’m back home, it was a lot of fun as always and you can see the evidence of that below! Lights, Camera...blog!
Kenny’s Westside Pub
The action actually started last night with a trip to Kenny’s Westside Pub. We’re going to be talking about my visit to this year’s Peoria Wingfest and since my favorite wings there were Kenny’s Spicy Peanut Butter Wings, Sean Kenny offered to make a batch to take for the segment. That’s Ned behind the bar passing the batch off and they look delicious, as always! Oh and note the sign, there’s 50 cent chicken wings all day and all night on Monday, so if you like wings, empty your piggy bank and head over to Kenny’s Westside Pub!
WMBD/WYZZ/CI Proud
Here we are at the luxurious WMBD/WYZZ/CI Proud studio. There’s a poster of Lauren, Shelbey and Mark outside! I still need to find out how they got the 3131 address, but I always forget to ask! Inside the front hallway we see another poster of the morning trio and down the hall is the break room where you wait for Andrew Harvey who produces the show to come and get you.
The Green Room
There’s archival photos on the walls and that WMBD one is my favorite. The two women seated at the table are Debbie Gaught and Stephanie Smit and they’re here to talk about the Springdale Salute 5K Run that’s happening on May 28th. Hey, check out the board, it’s Shelbey's birthday! I wonder if there will be cake? And there’s Andrew Harvey who produces the show to take us into the studio! It’s always exciting going in and doing a segment because it’s live TV and you never know what’s going to happen!
In The Studio
Before you know it, Debbie and Stephanie are already being interviewed by Mark Welp. While that’s going on I went over to the other side of the studio and got a picture of Mark’s co-anchor, Shelbey Roberts and meteorologist, Lauren Rainson, both looking very pretty, as always! There’s Lauren’s weather forecast she’s working on and another behind the camera shot.
There’s the team altogether in their seats ready to do a segment. What’s funny is one of the items is about chicken wings in New York, this really is a Wing Ding Wednesday!
Technical Operations Center
This is where the show as you see it at home or online is put together. As you can see from all the screens and boards it’s not only technical in here, but very colorful and sparkly! It kind of feels like a technicolor cave in here!
Meanwhile...
Back in the TV studio, Lauren is giving the weather forecast while Shelbey and Mark are checking their phones. I like the “gotcha” look on Mark’s face in the last shot!
Lauren And Drew
This is Lauren with her fiancee, Drew, who’s a camera technician in the studio. The two of them met while working here and they’re going to be married in July and I’ll have a blog from the wedding! Till then, you can check their at work love story by clicking right here!
Shelbey’s Birthday!
They not only had cake for Shelbey’s birthday, the had two boxes of decadent cupcakes as well! Mark said he was in danger of slipping into a diabetic coma and several Wilford Brimley jokes were passed around! If you want to give Shelbey a nice present, all you have to do is go and give her a like on her facecrack page! Happy birthday, Shelbey!
You make the call: Is Shelbey getting ready to attack the cake or Mark with that knife? From the look on Mark’s face, I don’t think he’s too sure!
It’s getting to be time for my segment and there’s Andrew getting the wings out of the oven in the kitchen area of the studio.
Feet!
Both Lauren and Shelbey have really nice feet, but Shelbey is a little creeped out by my foot fetish and thinks I’m kind of a freak. That’s pretty much what every woman I’ve ever met has thought, so welcome to the club, Shelbey! She moved her feet when I tried to get a shot, but I did get a photo of Mark’s feet and look at those socks! They belong in the Technical Operations Center with all of that color going on!
My Segment
This is the last photo I took before we went live with my segment!
You can click here to see us talking about the chicken wings and sampling them. We all thought they were delicious and thanks again to Sean Kenny and everyone at Kenny’s Westside Pub for supplying them!
On my way out, I saw Julie the friendly receptionist who threw me out of here way back on this day! Great to see her and thanks to everyone at Good Day Central Illinois for yet another fun morning! Be sure to like them on facecrack and follow them on Twitter to keep updated on the show!
