Harry Dean Stanton died last week and he was in so many great movies, everything from Cool Hand Luke to The Godfather Part II to Pretty In Pink. My favorite Harry Dean Stanton movie is also a film that’s one of my all-time favorite movies, Repo Man. Repo Man came out in 1984 and I first went to go see it because I had read that Michael Nesmith was the executive producer and that tweaked my curiosity. I sat in the movie theater that day and saw one of the funniest and weirdest movies of all time and I’ve probably watched it over 100 times since. Here’s some Repo Man related videos below.
Repo Man: The Original Theatrical Trailer
This is the original theatrical trailer for Repo Man. The trailer mainly focuses on Emilio Estevez who’s biggest role up to this point had been starring in the Francis Ford Coppola film, The Outsiders along with Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio and C. Thomas Howell. Even though he wasn’t a huge star yet, he was the biggest name Repo Man had, so they focused all the attention of the trailer on him. After Repo Man he became known as one of the “Brat Pack” starring in films like The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo’s Fire. He hasn’t been in a film since 2010 when he wrote, directed and starred in a movie called, The Way.
Iggy Pop Talks About Being Chosen To Write And Perform The Repo Man Theme Song
Alex Cox who directed Repo Man chose Iggy Pop to write the theme song for the movie. He explains how he was kind of down on his luck at the time and that being picked for this job was like a, “gift from God.”
The Best Scene In Repo Man
This is the best scene in the film. It’s Emilio Estevez learning the ropes of being a Repo Man from Harry Dean Stanton. It’s just under three minutes long, but it’s loaded with some classic lines like: “That’s why there ain’t a repo man I know that don’t take speed!” Harry Dean Stanton also delivers the “Repo Code” to Emilio Estevez while the two of them are snorting the Repo Man marching powder in his beat-up car. Probably my favorite line of the movie is in this scene: “Ordinary fuckin’ people, I hate ‘em!”
The End
Scene spoiler: If you’ve never seen Repo Man you might want to wait to watch this video, it’s the ending of the movie. And it’s one of the best ending’s of all time. I won’t give it away in case you haven’t seen the movie, but it’s a classic quirky end to a classic quirky movie. And the movie theme Iggy Pop wrote plays over the ending credits.

Bonus: Tito (The Pup Formerly Known As Trixie) Finds A Home With Lindsey And Clay!
The other week I went to PAWS and did one of my “Let Them Eat Cake” episodes there and the twist was, I brought cake not only for the humans working there, but for the doggies waiting to get adopted! It was a lot of fun and you can see the whole post here, but one of the funniest and also somewhat sad moments happened below.
1. Kat brought in two puppies to have the first pieces of cake and they were excited about it! 2. This guy was really wolfing his cake down fast. 3. This is Trixie who is a three-legged puppy and she was eating a little more slowly. 4. So the other puppy knocked her away and started in on her bowl. 5. Cat holds Trixie while... 6. The other puppy continues to eat Trixie’s cake. 7. We took the rude puppy away and let Trixie enjoy the rest of her cake in peace!
After this I felt sorry for Trixie and hoped someone would adopt her because I worried about other dogs being mean to her. I went home and put the post up the next day and everyone enjoyed it. I saw the pictures of Trixie and really hoped she’d get a good home! Then I moved on to the next MBIP post and life went along and I have to admit, I kind of forgot about Trixie. Until I saw this facecrack post that WMBD news anchor, Lindsey Mills posted three days later...
I couldn’t believe it, Lindsey and Clay adopted Trixie! But to my surprise they referred to her as, “Tito.” I guess Trixie is a boy! Well, ain’t that a bitch...errr, well, no it’s not! Anyway, I left a comment about the cake post and Lindsey said that we had to talk about it on Wednesday when I was scheduled to be a guest on Good Day Central Illinois!
And so that’s exactly what happened! Here I am on the set and there’s the new happy family, Lindsey, Tito and Clay. They explained that Tito is indeed a boy and we all wondered who gave him the name, “Trixie!” We did the segment and it was a lot of fun, you can watch it here.
Tito and I are reunited and it feels so good! It was great to see him and I’m so happy Lindsey and Clay adopted him! I love it when things work out like this!
Check this out! They’ve already got Tito a broadcasting job! Does this mean that WMBD now stands for, “Worlds Most Beautiful Doggie?” Stay tuned, film at 11!
