Live from Peoria, it’s Saturday Night with this week’s host, Kenny’s Westside Pub, with special guests, Sean Kenny, Jen, Amber, Joe and the musical stylings of Formula 5! And now, from beautiful downtown Peoria, please welcome this week’s host, Kenny’s Westside Pub!
The Arrival
Here we are at Kenny’s Westside Pub on a lovely Saturday night in mid-July! In addition to having our weekly Saturday Night Dinner, we’re also going to be celebrating the birthday of the owner of KWP, Sean Kenny! As I took the first photo, the crowd hanging outside in the front beer patio asked if I was from MBIP and I told them I was and they said they read it everyday! I always love to hear that and snapped a photo of this group of Saturday night partiers! They said they were having a going away party for Anna, who is standing fourth from the left. Good luck in your travels, Anna and great to meet all of you! Okay, let’s go inside and start our Saturday night at Kenny’s Westside Pub!
Right now there’s plenty of seats at the bar, so I walked up and got a beer from Jen, who’s one of the bartenders on duty tonight. And the evening has officially begun!
A Tour Of Kenny’s Westside Pub
Before we get to the birthday portion of the evening, let’s take a look around the bar and dining area in here. The bar is long and lit up nicely and there’s some of the beers on tap. Check out that trivia championship belt, pretty impressive! Trivia Night happens every Tuesday and it’s one of the more popular trivia events around town. You can spend hours just looking at all of the mirrors, vintage photos and art on the walls in here. Sean’s really decorated this place great. The bottom Grateful Dead inspired painting is by MBIP pal, Bob Whitaker!
In the back corner over here is a nice Irish Blessing hanging over the gaming machines.
Sean Kenny—The Birthday Boy And His Presents!
There’s the owner and guiding light behind Kenny’s Westside Pub, Sean Kenny! Sean celebrated his birthday here last Thursday night, but I couldn’t go because we had our sandwich judging to do. So I brought this bag of presents for Sean tonight. Here he is getting a little nosey with the bag!
Here's Sean opening up the presents! I got him some birthday candles, some monogram playing cards, socks, pills and a metal hand bottle opener! Happy birthday, Sean, I hope it’s a great year for you, my friend! And thanks for creating a great downtown oasis of fun, food and live music for all of us!
Saturday Night Dinner
Speaking of food, it’s time to order our Saturday night dinner! Kenny’s has a fantastic menu with a lot of choices, check it out by clicking here. I’ve sampled most of the items on the menu, but there is one sandwich I haven’t tried yet...
And that’s the Irish Sausage Sandwich. Hey, look, there it is, talk about fast service! It looks incredible and I got a side of cole slaw with it and the cole slaw was really tasty. It’s finely chopped and has just a little bit of a spicy flavor going on.
Now it’s on to the main event of the dinner, The Irish Sausage Sandwich. The bun is nicely toasted and as you can see, the savory sausage is topped with a layer of melted cheese and there’s grilled peppers and onions on it. It looks delicious!
Wow, this is really a tasty sandwich! You can read more about it in the review below, but if you haven’t tried this sandwich, you need to get to Kenny's and try it out. And Kenny’s kitchen is open from 11AM to 4AM, so you’ve got plenty of time to get over there and order one for yourself!
Suddenly...Amber and Joe Appear!
Just as I was finishing up the sandwich, my friends Amber and Joe appeared looking fabulous as always! I love it when this happens! They ordered some Pretzel Bites and we had a nice time visiting and chatting with Sean at the bar and then I heard some commotion down at the end of the bar.
Formula 5...Live!
The doors over here opened up and there was live music happening all of a sudden! Kenny’s Westside Pub has gotten to be known as the place for the best live bands in Peoria. There’s live shows every weekend starting at 10PM and bands are booked from all over the country. The first band for the evening is Formula 5 who are from Albany, New York.
The band is really great live and their influences range from jam bands to jazz to classic rock. They perform their own original music and were really an impressive band. You can read more about them and see their upcoming tour dates right here on their facecrack page.
And Finally...
These four pretty women were posing for a photo, so I jumped over and took one of them too! It’s what I do! Happy birthday to Sean Kenny and thanks to Amber and Joe for joining in on the Saturday Night festivities! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
I had the Irish Sausage sandwich and like all of the food on Kenny’s menu it was really delicious. The bun was bakery fresh and toasted perfectly. The Irish Sausage was really flavorful, juicy and had just the right amount of spice and zing happening. The sausage was topped with creamy and sharp melted habanero cheese and the grilled onions and peppers complimented everything perfectly! And I loved the cole slaw!
SN Rating
Four Galloping Gourmets—I’ve never been disappointed in the food at Kenny’s Westside Pub and tonight was no exception to this tasty rule!
