I’ve been to A World Of Wings on Main Street once before here on MBIP, that was when we were doing the first twelve weeks of chicken wings food tour. It was over a year ago and it made perfect sense to visit this place for a chicken wing tour, because after all, it’s a world of wings! But there’s also other things available there too and I know this for a fact, because I learned it on my original trip there back in June of 2015. And now in our latest stop as we eat our way up Main Street, the answer to this question: “What else can you get in A World Of Wings?” will be answered! Scroll on down and the answer will be revealed!
Here we go traveling up the Main Street hill to our next destination on this street...
A World Of Wings! Let’s go in and see if we can find the answer to: “What else can you get in a restaurant that bills itself as, ‘A World Of Wings?’”
Well, this welcome mat offers no clues to the aforementioned question, so let’s just soldier on into, A World Of Wings.
And here we are in the spacious front room where there’s a bar for seating as well as several tables to dine at. And there’s a sign featuring some specials available here. And yes, these do show that there are more than wings here, but it’s not the definitive answer I’m looking for. That answer can only be found...
Right here in this obligatory framed Phil Luciano review hanging on the wall. For it’s here that some esteemed PJ Star headline writer reveals that in addition to wings, there’s...THINGS available here! Now that’s the kind of concise and clear cut writing that just hammers home the point that you just don’t walk in off the street and write for the Peoria Journal Star!
I love the fact that both the blue and red states are represented in the gumballs here at World of Wings, it’s a nice reminder that whoever gets elected, we’re still going to get chewed up and spit out like a bunch of...uh...things! Thanks for the inspiration PJ Star!
I spy a familiar face from our last visit behind the counter, that’s Rachel and she remembered us from our last visit on the wing tour! Great to see her again! I’m meeting a couple of friends here today, but of course I’m early, so she told me to go ahead and grab a seat and she’d take our order when everyone had arrived.
So I wandered over to the seating area behind the main dining room where there’s booths lined up against the far wall. However I decided to grab a booth with a window view of Main Street.
And there’s an iced tea that Rachel brought me to enjoy while I sit and enjoy the world traveling by on Main Street outside.
And here’s our two special guest stars for this Eating Main Street journey, it’s Clay Deal to the left and Ryan Deemer to his right! Always a pleasure to see these two guys and Ryan not only showed up for lunch, he has a special announcement for all of us, so let’s just see what this is all about...
Ryan’s part of a new business here called, JumpOnIt Peoria Mobile Deals and basically it’s a way to get free deals and discounts to your phone and it costs absolutely nothing and it’s easy to join. All you do is text the message, “jumponpeoria” to the number 82928 and you’re all signed up. Then two or three times a week you’ll get a text with a special deal from a local Peoria business that you can take advantage of. And if you share it with your friends you automatically get a bonus prize. You can check it out further at their facecrack page or on Twitter. One thing I’m wondering is if A World of Wings will give away free “things” via JumpOnIt? Only time will tell!
And speaking of things here at A World of Wings, let’s take a look at the menu. As you can see, there’s definitely more here than wings and I’m going to try something from the non-wing side of the menu. One thing that caught my eye is something called, Cobb on a Stick. It intrigued me because after reading it I got a mental picture of an impaled Ty Cobb and I love it when that happens!
No sooner did we order than the Cobb on the Stick arrived and it was so delicious! it’s a half an ear of corn covered with butter, mayonnaise and rolled in Parmesan cheese and Mexican-styled seasonings. This was so good I could’ve eaten a bucket of them! Plus I love that it’s served on a stick, basically I subscribe to the rule of thinking that anything served on a stick is twice as delicious as those non-stick food items and this was no exception to the rule!
Clay and Ryan also got Cobbs on sticks and they also got two non-wing sandwiches. Clay got the Philly Beef (top) and Ryan got the Philly Chicken (bottom). Both sandwiches got a thumb’s up approval from them.
I got something you don’t see on too many menu’s around town, so when i see this item I order it and that item is chicken gizzards! I love chicken gizzards and these look fantastic! They're served with pickle slices and onions and they’re covered in a combination sauce that includes, ketchup, mustard and hot sauce, the Holy Trinity of condiments!
These gizzards are so good and tasty! They’re lightly breaded and seasoned and the somewhat spicy condiment sauce really adds to the flavor! Great gizzards!
And check out the mat on the way out! It looks like an editor from the PJ Star snuck in and corrected the welcome mat while we were having lunch in here! Thanks to Clay and Ryan for joining me on this latest stop as we eat our way up Main Street! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
