I keep a list of possible places and restaurants to check out for MBIP and one place that’s been on the list for at least three years is a quaint looking little shop in Peoria Heights called, Lost & Found Again. I passed by it the other night and thought to myself that I really need to stop by and take a look inside and as luck would have it, that’s just what I did yesterday! So come along and join me as I hop on over to Lost & Found Again!
Here we are at Lost & Found Again. I’ve always wondered about this place because I find it curious that it’s a shop within this house, so let’s go satisfy my curiosity and see what in the world is going on here!
As I wandered up to the front porch, I found two women and a dog there. At first I wondered if they were lost and/or found, but it turns out that they’re the owners of this place! From left, that’s Marcy Bretsch, Tanya Neilson and their dog, Willie Nelson. They’re really friendly and nice and said I was more than welcome to take a look around inside, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do!
As we enter the front door, it looks like Willie has the munchies—oh well, his name is Willie Nelson after all! There’s Tanya and Marcy behind the front counter. They told me that the store has been open over three years and they’re doing very well here. The fourth anniversary is this January, so I’m hoping for a party in here, stay tuned for that, till then, let’s take a look around and see what’s for sale in here!
Rooms
As you can see, every room here is packed with unusual items, art and some really cool inventory. I can’t take a picture of everything in here, but I’ll do my best!
Typewriters and Cameras
One thing I noticed right off the bat is the number of vintage typewriters and cameras on display! I love these! That’s something you won’t find at the mall or a chain store!
Telephones
For you youngsters out there, these are telephones, things you would dial and talk to people while being connected to a wall. Sounds crazy, I know, but thats the way it used to be back in the days of three channels on TV...you do remember television, right? Never mind, let’s just keep moving along here!
Shop Local
A good deal of the art and inventory here is supplied by local artists and vendors and I always love to see that! Some of the artists selling their work here include: Bronwyn Hill, Lisa Schureman from that Old Blue House, Sara Johnson with Brazen Design, Sue Grilles from Dackel Designs and Chris Hardine with Midewest Cottage + Finds.
Potpourri
There’s treasures around every corner in here and in every nook and cranny, this is just a small example of it, you need to stop by to see everything in here! It’s really amazing!
Vendor Map
This is a lot of fun, it’s a map on the wall of all the vendors who have items for sale here! They come from all over the map, wtih a good portion from in Peoria and cities nearby.
As I was getting ready to go, Marcy and Tanya presented me with an MBIP Scrabble letter gift to take with me! How nice is that? So it’s time to leave Lost & Found and head back to...
MBIP World Headquarters and I’ve put the MBIP letters on a place of honor here on the Sergeant Squeak display! Thanks to Marcy, Tanya and Willie Nelson for the cool MBIP display letters and for a fun tour and afternoon at Lost & Found! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
