The Friendly Valley Tavern is one of Peoria’s oldest bars and it’s the only Quonset Hut Tavern in the city. It’s been a while since I stopped in there, so let’s go see what’s happening over there on this fine Thursday evening!
It’s Thursday night down here in the valley...a friendly valley!
The neon is blazing in the windows, so let’s go inside and see what’s going on inside!
It’s always nice and dark in here and there’s veteran Friendly Valley bartender Truby with an ice-cold can of beer and one of the best beer koozies ever! Truby’s been bartending in here for over 20 years and it’s always nice to see her!
There’s the view of the back of this classic P-town tavern. I love the two backlit horse photos, they’ve been back there as long as I can remember. That’s the nice thing about The Friendly Valley Tavern, not much changes in here and that’s a good thing.
There’s the Friendly Valley t-shirt behind the bar and a Butch’s Pizza sign is plastered up back there right underneath the Chicago Bears sign. Da Bears!
That Aiken Avenue (A.K.A. Aiken Alley) sign is a true blast from Peoria’s past!
Here’s two shots of one end of the Friendly Valley to the other with the pool table and Budweiser lights in between.
As I took the “Free Beer” sign, Truby said she wanted to show me another sign in the Women’s bathroom. Now that is one nutty picture! Oof, sorry about that!
There’s two TV sets on either side of the Valley in here, so you can always catch your favorite game, especially if it’s the Cubs or Bears! And how’s about them Cubbies last night?
Meanwhile, back at the bar, Truby’s ready to serve up another drink...
As another Thursday evening moves along at The Friendly Valley Tavern. We’ll see you all tomorrow!
