Sometimes things that are planned for this blog get screwed up for one reason or another and then I’m left with an imaginary stopwatch ticking over my imaginary head trying to figure out what I’m going to do for the post the next day. Yesterday was one of those days. Some personal things got screwed up and I was running like crazy just trying to get things done in time to go to work. I had to delay what I originally had planned and then had to think of a last minute thing to do for today’s post. One thing I’ve had in my back pocket for a while for an evening like this was to go and take my yearly pictures along the Peoria Riverfront. I work nearby, so I hauled the MBIP Camera along with me to work and then when I got out, I wandered and took some photos for today’s post. And as luck would have it, they’re located directly below, so let’s go take a look at my Riverfront journey from last night!
Here we are at Peoria’s Riverfront, let’s go take a look around and get this over with...whoops, I mean lets get some fun MBIP photos for this post!
This walkway leads us to the first section of our MBIP Peoria Riverfront Tour which is called...
Boats!
Here’s the Spirit of Peoria boat, docked along the riverfront, but there’s more boats to be seen along here...
And here’s some more docked and waiting to take a three hour tour on the Illinois River before winter sets in.
Things
Here’s some photos of things along the riverfront I took mainly for perspective reasons. So there!
The River
You can’t really have a post dedicated to the Peoria Riverfront without photos of the river, so here they are! It sure is colorful at night. And shiny too!
Emack & Bolio’s
Emack & Bolio’s is the only ice cream parlor on the Peoria Riverfront and its not only the home of Peoria’s tastiest ice cream, one of the owners has been a good friend of mine for years and is the Spiritual Guru of the MBIP Blog. And this man is none other than...
Tim Hennessey! There he is behind the counter and in the photo below he’s striking his superhero pose! Not too many people know this, but he had a childhood dream of becoming Wonder Woman that was never fulfilled. It’s a sorrowful fact and one that causes me to weep openly and often. Sob!
Upfront in the case are cones of different flavors for the ice cream and Emack’s also sells these cool, locally made Peoria Postcards. Check them and the business, Lettering Works out by clicking right here.
I hope you’ve made it this far on this post and are actually reading the captions rather than just looking at the pictures and then moving along because there’s some exciting news coming up! But first here’s a little tour of Emack & Bolio’s on the riverfront. They’re going to be open for about another month, so stop by and enjoy some ice cream while enjoying yourself down here while the season is still here. And if you want to enjoy Emack’s ice cream after this season down here is over, don’t worry, they’re still open at their Peoria Heights location all year long!
Okay, now for that exciting announcement! A lot of you probably are enjoying the Pokemon Go thing that’s happening. I’m not really sure what it is because I’ve got, well, you know...a life and stuff, but if you’re enjoying it, Emack & Bolio’s has an exciting new dimension to this phenomenon that you can only experience by visiting the Emack & Bolio’s Peoria locations on the riverfront and in Peoria Heights. What’s going on is that you go to the store and instead of getting ice cream in a cone...
They’ll put a Pokemon character in there and you can eat it! Then—Poof!—Pokemon gone! Stop by and enjoy this new wrinkle in the whole Pokemon Go game. Once all the characters are ordered and eaten, well, then Pokemon is gone and I for one will breathe a big, whomping, stomping sigh of relief!
Thanks to Tim for a fun evening at Emack & Bolio’s and for the ride home! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
