Way back on April 9, 2013, myself and Bob Gordon were going to go to the Stadium Club which used to be a classic Peoria dive bar back in the day. Well, we went and it was boarded shut and that was a little bit of a disappointment. But I recently found out from my friends, Amber and Joe, that the bar is open again with the somewhat (I think) strange name of, Hangovers. Maybe it’s just me, but calling your bar, Hangovers is kind of like naming your restaurant, Botulism! But on the other hand, Botulism mIght be kind of a cool name for a restaurant, so maybe they’re on to something over there! Let’s go see if we can find out the story behind the name and check out Hangovers, the new bar in the old Stadium Club! To the MBIP Mobile!
One of the few things I hate about spring and summer is how long it stays light out. It’s 7:30PM and it looks like it’s three in the afternoon out here! Daylight savings time combined with nature sucks monkey lungs on toast, I hate this brightness! Make it go away...ahhhhh!
Here we are at Hangovers. I just had a brainstorm, how great would it be to park a food truck that only sold aspirin next door to it. And cold pizza! And the name of the food truck could be, “Aspirin...And Cold Pizza!” I need to work on this idea!
They have a nice wooden deck over here to the side of the building.
Okay, let’s go in and get out of this brightness, we’ll take another shot of the outside when we leave and you’ll see how much better it looks in the darkness.
Wow, it’s really nice in here, they’ve really fixed it up since the old Stadium Club days! Let’s belly up to the bar...
And meet Jamie, the pretty and friendly bartender on duty! Hello, Jamie!
I like the back of the bar area, it’s colorful and sparkly!
Here’s the quartet of beers on tap and as you can see in the special, Hangovers cooler, there’s a good selection of bottles and cans available!
Hangovers has lots of games and activities for your indoor tavern sporting pleasure. A pool table is situated catty-corner from the bar near the front window. Directly opposite the bar is three state of the art dart machines and darts are very popular here at Hangovers and the owner will soon be expanding the dart area to the upstairs floor. Stay tuned for more information on that as it unfolds beneath our very eyeballs. Located in the back of the bar is some gaming machines if you feel like gambling a little bit in this discreet corner.
Uh, oh...here’s the Hangovers, “Wall Of Shame!” I didn’t make the Wall of Shame this trip, but I’ll come back in...oh, say about 360 days and I might just make the wall then! (Inside joke alert!)
There’s some funny signs on the wall over here and this ice sign is my favorite! Ice, ice, baby!
Here’s a table up by the corner front window where you can watch the world go by on Lake Street. It’s still bright out! Sheesh! Go way, sunshine, it’s nighttime, time to give it a fucking rest already!
Love this Budweiser neon! But I hate the fact that Budweiser is renaming itself to, America this summer. There’s so many reasons why this is wrong, but at the top of the list is that they’re owned by a company called, InBev, which is a beer conglomerate based in Belgium and Brazil. Oh the horrible irony of it all! In protest I’m not going to drink Budweiser all summer...in fact I may not drink it again until May 17. 2017! (Yet another inside joke alert for those of you keeping score and I certainly am! On a countdown calendar, no less!)
As you can see from this sign on the wall, there's a different special in here every day of the week!
Here’s a shot of the bar from the far corner. This is really a cozy little neighborhood bar and people are real friendly here.
Meanwhile, back at the bar I ran into Ryan and Matt. I met Ryan at Double A’s a while back and just met Matt tonight. We had a nice conversation and they’re a couple of great guys, nice to see Ryan again and to meet Matt!
Hanging out down here at the end of the bar is Erika, Sean and Chris. Erika reminded me that we met about a year ago at Michelle and Todd’s cookout party! Okay, time to cue this up!
Here’s a shot from the other end of the bar, I had to stand up on the railing to get this, so I hope you appreciate it because I have a fear of heights. And a year ago last April, I also started developing a fear of Peoria Heights. (I tell you, the inside jokes just never stop today!)
Finally, the sun has gone down out here! This is a nice little place to relax out front and smoke ‘em if you got ‘em!
I told you it would look better when that stupid-ass sun finally called it a day!
I really like this neon window with the Hangovers logo painted above it! And the logo is orange, as in: "Orange you glad you have some aspirin and cold pizza to combat this nasty hangover!" Thanks to everyone at Hangovers for a fun-filled Thursday evening and we’ll see you all tomorrow! And hey...let’s be careful out there!
