Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, The Fish House with special guest stars, Sam, Paul and Justin and featuring The Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher! And now, please give a nice holiday cheer for this week’s host, The Fish House!
Here we are at The Fish House and it’s snowing out, which is perfect since this is a holiday drink post!
But it’s also freezing-wheezing cold out here, so let’s get the hell inside already!
Aaahh, it’s nice and toasty warm in here! And the bar is nice and dark as always...and I think I see two familiar faces back there...
It’s The Fish House bartending duo, Sam and Paul! And check out Sam, she’s all decked out for the holidays, Paul...well, not so much, but he’s got the beer, so we’ll give him a pass this time!
I ordered dinner from the appetizer menu behind the bar. I chose my favorite appetizer combination, the Seared Tuna and Crab Turnovers! Okay, time to take a little stroll while that’s getting prepared.
As usual, I’m here near closing time so the place is a little empty, plus I think the snow tonight kept a lot of people inside...pussies! Check out the festive tree in the dining room, it’s sparkly!
The bar window is over here in the dining room and I’ve never taken a picture from this side so here we go! There’s Paul and Sam working behind the bar...actually they’re staring at me taking this picture...get back to work, you two!
Okay, they went back to work, so I went back to the bar and check it out, dinner is served and Sam is taking this opportunity to photobomb the picture!
I love this combination of appetizers for dinner! The Seared Tuna is marinated in a ginger sauce with sesame seeds and pan-seared so the outside has a nice crust and the tuna is sliced thin and velvety smooth and savory. The Crab Turnovers are flaky puff pastry baked golden brown and stuffed with Boursin cheese, herbs, spinach and lump crab. They’re really rich and topped off with a roasted tomato sauce. This was a great Saturday night dinner, but tonight isn’t really about the dinner, nope, tonight this post is all about...
The Third Annual Drink Contest between Sam and Paul! They’re both going to whip up a holiday concoction tonight and Sam’s going to go first, so here we go!
Sam
Here’s Sam with all of her ingredients and her drink tonight that she’s making from her own recipe is called, “Sam’s Holiday Hot Toddy.” Take it away, Sam!
Here she goes making the drink. This is no run of the mill Hot Toddy, Sam’s added some of her own secret touches and additions to the drink. Her drink sounds perfect for a cold winter night!
Sam’s sampling the finished product...hey, leave a little for the judge, Sam!
Paul
Next up is Paul! He’s going to whip up a twist on a Cosmopolitan and it’s called The O’Connor Christmas Cosmo. Take it away, Paul!
Here’s Paul flying into action! I have to say, both Paul and Sam whipped up their special holiday drinks in record time!
Paul’s signature holiday drink for 2016—The O’Connor Christmas Cosmo!
Here Comes Da Judge!
I carefully sampled both drinks and dutifully weighed the different pros and cons of both libations...
And the winner is, Sam’s Holiday Hot Toddy! Both drinks were expertly made and delicious, but on a cold and snowy December night, you gotta go with the Hot Toddy!
Even though there can only be one winner, both contestants got prizes! Paul got a pack of Universal Shingle and Gutter Clips and a holiday chocolate bar. Sam’s winning prize was a Snoopy Christmas projector and she got a chocolate bar too! Thanks to both Sam and Paul for playing along again this year and both holiday cocktails are available all this week leading up to Christmas! Stop in and try them both, they’ll definitely bring out the Christmas spirit in even the most humbugged of you out there!
Here’s Justin, the owner of The Fish House to congratulate both Sam and Paul on making such wonderful holiday drinks! And he also came out to remind me that The Fish House closed about a half an hour ago and I need to put an end to this year’s holiday post and get the hell out of there so he can go home! So thanks to Sam and Paul for another festive holiday drink celebration this year and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
