I just started reading an autobiography by actor/producer, Bryan Cranston called, “A Life In Parts,” and of course I skipped to the “Breaking Bad” chapters first and it’s really interesting to read his stories and remembrances from producing and acting in that groundbreaking show. It’s hands-down my favorite TV series of all time and I’ve watched it over and over and over. So this week’s links are all about “Breaking Bad” and then there’s the usual MBIP Coming Attractions below that. And that, well...is that.
The Dark Art of "Breaking Bad"
This is an informative NY Times magazine piece where Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan tells his original pitch idea for the show: “Wouldn’t it be interesting to have a show that takes the protagonist and transforms him into the antagonist?”
“Breaking Bad”: 20 Most Shocking Deaths
Number fourteen was my favorite death.
The Closure-Happy “Breaking Bad” Finale
An interesting take on the final episode from a New Yorker writer. I agree with some of her points, but I still think it was a great ending to the series.
“Breaking Bad”: We Rank Every Episode
I think the “Box Cutter” episode should’ve been way higher up, but that’s just me.
A Clear Ending to a Mysterious Beginning
I disagree with her assessment that there was still one question unanswered. I thought Walter White left Gray Matter for a lump settlement to buy a house because Skyler was pregnant. I’ll have to go back and check that out, it’ll give me an excuse to watch the whole series over again!
The Ultimate Breaking Bad Gif
One of my favorite scenes and gifs of all times!
Uh, oh, it’s a holiday week, here we go again! But before Turkey Day comes gobbling down, we’ve got another "Saturday Night Best of Peoria" post tomorrow and it features the MBIP award-winning chicken wings from Blue Duck BBQ Tavern! And there’s a new flavor of wings available there, so check that out tomorrow! Tuesday we continue the MBIP “A Year In The Life Of A Sandwich” food tour at The Chef And The Baker and I not only got a great sandwich, I also got a s’more cupcake plus pumpkin cheesecake! Wednesday will be a tour of Peoria’s oldest high school, Peoria High School and this is good timing as they’re going to the state championship football game next week! Thursday is Turkey Day and I think Bob Gordon is going to do his annual holiday Thanksgiving Post, so we’ll see if he gets that done or not! Friday is Black Friday and I’m not sure what I’m going to put up that day yet, but I do know I’m not going near a store at all! So stay tuned and have a wonderful Sunday and we’ll see you all tomorrow and next week!
