I first met Angie and Tony Agatucci when I was doing my 365 Bar Crawl blog. I was living in New York back then but came back to Peoria for my birthday in April. While I was back here in P-town I had to continue going to a bar a day and one of the stops I made was Khaki Jack's. While I was taking pictures I met Angie and Tony Agatucci and told them I’d have to stop in at Agatucci’s on another trip back to Peoria. Well, flash forward a few years in the future and I made good on that promise. In fact you can see pictures of Tony Agatucci here, here, here, here and here!
Quite frankly I’ve seen enough of Tony Agatucci to last a lifetime! But I never saw Angie again after that 365 bars meeting, which was over five years ago! So I was pleasantly surprised when I recently heard from her and she invited me to take a tour of a new salon and day spa that’s just opened up in Pioneer Park, which is just minutes from the MBIP World Headquarters! She's a stylist there and she said we were welcome to stop by and take a look around. So let’s go and have a Tony Agatucci-free reunion with Angie Agatucci at Murphy’s Salon & Day Spa. To the MBIP Mobile!
Okay, we’re off and as I mentioned in the introduction, Murphy’s Day Sap & Salon is just minutes away from the MBIP World Headquarters. In fact according to my calculations it should take exactly two minutes to get there. Let’s see how close I am with my prediction.
Ha! Right on the money and here we are at Murphy’s Day Spa & Salon! Let’s go in and see what’s happening in here.
It’s nice in here, let’s go over to the front desk and see who these two fellows are.
This is Ryan and Mike who are the owners of the spa and they’re really nice guys. They told me that Angie was busy with a client, but they could give me a tour until she had some free time. Sounds good to me, let’s go take a look around in here with Ryan and Mike.
Before the tour began, I noticed this cup monogrammed with my first intitial! How thoughtful of them was that to do? They sure pay attention to the small details in here!
The spa has an elegant yet relaxing feel to it. I love the wooden floor in here!
Here’s the shampoo area.
Hey you over there...yeah, you...do you mind shutting the hell up over there? This is a quiet area, please and thank you...sheesh!
Ryan and Mike told me that in this room they do waxing and teeth whitening. I’ve never heard of a salon and spa that whitens teeth. Pretty cool!
Here’s one of the massage rooms in the back. How relaxing does this place look? Just staring at it makes me feel like I’ve popped seven Valiums!
This is a shot from the back of the salon and I think I see a familiar face up front over there...
It’s Angie Agatucci! Let’s go and say hi, it’s hard to believe it’s been over five years since I’ve seen her!
Hi Angie! I told her I’d hang back until she was done with her client...
He looks like a fun guy, he’s cracking Angie up over there! Who the hell is this guy anyway...
It’s Tony Agatucci! Aaaah! There’s no escape from this guy! Oh well, when life hands you Tony, there’s only one thing you can do...
And that’s go have lunch with him and Angie over at the Fox Pub and Cafe which is conveniently located right next door!
Let’s go in and have lunch with Angie and Tony at one of my favorite Peoria Pubs, The Fox Pub and Cafe!
Usually I’d sit over there at the bar, but since there’s three of us...
We’ll get a table in the main dining room.
And here we are all settled in at our table.
Alex is our waiter for the day and he took our order, so I thought I’d take a little look around in here while lunch is being prepared.
The international flags that cover the front windows are a cool touch in here.
This is my favorite corner in the Fox Pub. It’s where the bands play and I love all the Beatle photos on the walls and the telephone booth over there.
They have a huge ever-changing beer list in here and this month’s featured brewery is Oskar Blues.
This flag is a reminder of the Fox Pub slogan: “Eat, Drink and Be English!”
And that slogan is emblazoned on the t-shirt of one of our favorite Fox Pub employees, Kayla! Always great to see her in here!
Check out Brooke giving us the MBIP one finger salute! I love her!
As I took this shot from the back of Fox Pub, I saw our lunch being delivered so I high-tailed it back to the table.
We split an order of the Queso Dip and Chips and it’s rich, spicy and delicious! The tortilla chips are homemade and served up warm. A wonderful start to lunch!
Angie got the Charbroiled Chicken Salad...
Tony got the Duke of Wellington which is brisket topped with sharp cheddar cheese on a bakery fresh roll. It looks so good!
I got the fish and chips and they serve up the best fish and chips in the area. Lunch was really tasty and satisfying and we had a nice chat while eating. I found out that Tony and Angie met at The Lucky Lady on Farmington road and that Angie had dreams of being a hair stylist since she’s been 18-years-old. It took her a a while to realize the dream, but it’s finally happening over at Murphy’s Salon & Day Spa, right next door.
After lunch, Matt Rixner stopped by our table to say hello. Matt owns the Fox Pub along with his wife, Cortney and he can be heard weekly, Friday morning's at 9:15 am on WWCT’s Keg’s and Eggs along with Marc Alghini.
Thanks to Ryan and Mike for a nice tour of Murphy’s Salon & Day Spa and to Angie and Tony Agatucci for a fun lunch at Fox Pub! Great to see Angie after five years and as far as Tony goes...well, I guess there’s just no escape! But he did pick up the luncheon check, so I thank him for that! Good Knight everybody!
