Okay, we’re up to double digits in this flighty tour of chicken wings and this week we’re going to head on down to the No Wake Zone and sample some of their winged fare...Uh, oh...what’s that?
Someone’s knocking at the MBIP World Headquarters door, let’s see who it is...
Oh my! I don’t know who you are but you’re either a little too excited to be here or you’re having a mild heart attack at my door. Either way it’s a little frightening, let’s try this again...
Okay, that’s more like it! It’s MBIP pal, Contributor and Wheelman, Scott Turley, and this time he’s photobombing his own photo! Time for a quick beer and then...
We’re on the road again! Well now, Scott’s in a bit of a grumpy mood! Some beer and chicken wings will turn that frown upside down I predict, just you wait and see!
Off we go into the wild blue yonder!
There’s No Wake Zone straight ahead, let’s park and let this tenth week of wings begin!
The No Wake Zone is looking festive as always...
Let’s walk the plank, matey’s and step inside!
Plenty of seats at the bar...
And behind the bar I spy two familiar people...
It’s No Wake Zone owners and pals, Linda and Pete Clarno! The friendliest bar owners on Galena Road and beyond! We ordered up some beer and wings and while they’re being prepared, let’s take a look around in here on this fine Sunday afternoon!
There’s a nice crowd in here and check it out, live entertainment!
It’s Billy Washburn playing a nice mix of rock ‘n’ roll classics and country tunes. A very entertaining duo! Check out his facecrack page for upcoming dates.
And speaking of upcoming dates, he’ll be back at NWZ on Sunday, August 16th, stop on by if you’re in the neighborhood and enjoy the music!
Let’s go out on the deck and take a look at what’s happening out there.
It’s nice out here...but a little bright!
Wonderful view...but a little bright...I think maybe we should...
Go back inside where it’s nice and dark! I really need to get some prescription sunglasses!
As I was wandering around, Lori came up and told me she’s a fan of the blog and that’s always nice to hear, especially from a pretty woman like Lori!
Here I am with Lori’s friends down at the end of the bar. No Wake Zone is a friendly place and always fun to meet new people in here! But I really hate the insane way my head is cocked in this photo, I have to quit doing that, I look like a real retard in this photo! This’ll bug me all day, it ain’t easy being me!
This is my favorite thing in No Wake Zone, Stumpy Pete’s House of Ham! I love Stumpy Pete!
Meanwhile, back at the bar our appetizer is being served up by Pete...
Scott and I decided to try out the chili-cheese Tater Tots for a pre-wing treat.
Wow, this is so good! The spicy chili intermingles with the rich and creamy melted cheese and underneath it all is deep-fried Tater Tots! I wouldn’t eat this every day, but I’m glad to be shoveling it down my pie hole today! It’s delicious!
Here we go, Pete’s serving up the star attraction, this week’s chicken wings!
They have a large variety of different styles pof wings and we tried three different flavors. Clockwise from the upper left: XXX Hot, Southern Comfort BBQ and Hot with Lemon Pepper. They look and smell wonderful!
I took one of each flavor and it’s time to begin the all-important cooling process, which by now we all know...
Allows us time for yet another beer!
The food here is always top-notch and these wings are some of the best I’ve had. All of them have some heat, but they each have a spicy unique flavor that comes through as well. I need to come back and try some more of the flavors here!
Weekly bones and napkin shot!
And for dessert...another beer! Cheers from Scott and I (I really need to fucking stop cocking my head like that, motherfucker!) and thanks to Linda, Pete and all the fine folks at No Wake Zone last Sunday!
