Live from Peoria, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Peoria Speedway and featuring The Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome this week’s host all the way from Farmington Road, Peoria Speedway!
Here we are at the parking lot of Peoria Speedway. It’s a perfect night for watching cars race round and round and I’m looking forward to this. I’ve never been here, so I’m excited to see what the night has in store for us!
There’s the fans in the bleachers.
You enter the Speedway over here, in this barn-like building, so let’s go enter and let the night begin!
Tickets!
Here’s Jessa who just sold us our ticket looking cool in those bright blue shades!
This is the entrance to the bleachers. We’re meeting Jeff Tolliver, who’s a frequent MBIP commenter, but we haven’t met in person yet. Jeff suggested we check out the Speedway and that’s how this whole night came to be. Hey, someone just shouted out my name and look who it is...
Jeff Tolliver! Great to finally meet him. He said he’d lead the way to his seats up in the bleachers...
So it’s off we go!
As you can see, it’s a full house here tonight!
Here’s where we’re going to be seated, right next to Jeff and his two sons and Jeff’s dad. From left: Lance, Ian, Jeff and his dad. Great to meet the whole family!
And check it out, my old pal John Ingles is in the house too! Always great to see John and glad he made it out for the evening!
This is Jeff’s friend, Bill who was in town for the weekend. I think Bill said he lives in California, but I’m not totally sure. I need to start writing this stuff down! Great to meet Bill though!
And they’re off! The racing has begun and it’s really fun to watch. The lighting here isn’t the best for photos though and I wish my pictures were better...
But John’s taking some and maybe his will turn out better than mine. You can see them below in the bonus section, just keep on scrolling down the MBIP highway!
Vroom and vroom!
Here’s the crowd doing a “wave” for the drivers. Cool to see everyone really getting in to this!
The races are fun to watch, but it’s time for a little beer and dinner break. Let’s start with...
The beer!
Becky’s the pretty caretaker of the beer stand and here she is serving up an ice-cold aluminum bottle of Budweiser!
Now let’s head over to the food truck to get something to eat.
As you can see, there’s a decent selection of sandwiches and side items to choose from, let’s go place our order.
Tabitha’s waiting at the window to take our order and check out that cute smile! It turns out that Tabitha is Becky’s daughter! And we all know what has to be cued up now!
I got the pork chop sandwich and cheese fries. Not exactly gourmet cuisine, but it sure hits the spot!
Meanwhile, back at the bleachers, the racing continues!
It’s as much fun watching the people here as it is the races. If you’ve never been, you should check it out, definitely a fun way to spend an evening!
When the races are over you can walk down to the track and take a look at where all the action takes place. Here’s John leading the way!
And here’s the track. Really cool to walk around down here.
Cheers from the Peoria Speedway track!
Here’s Bill and Jeff at the end of the evening. This was a fun night and thanks to Jeff for suggesting this!
If you go, just be ready for your shoes to get a little muddy! I need to go see George! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
You don’t go to Peoria Speedway for the food, you go there for the stock car races. But if you’re there and you get hungry, I suggest the pork chop sandwich and cheese fries. And of course a beer or two to wash it down with!
SN Rating
Two and a half Galloping Gourmets—Like I said, you don’t go there for the food, but if you get hungry, there’s a nice selection of sandwiches and sides to fill you up for another round of races!
