MBIP has a rich history of celebrating birthdays. Here’s just a small sampling of links that have been birthday celebrations: Amber, Scott, Michelle, My Mom, Todd and Yours Fooly. And now tonight we add another to the list. MBIP pal Sean Kenny turns 30-years-old tonight and we’ve been invited to his birthday party at his bar, Kenny’s Westside Pub, which is one of MBIP’s favorite watering holes. But before we go to the party, we need to get a gift, so let’s make tracks to our favorite place to get birthday presents...
Moxie’s ReSale Boutique! Always love the window displays here!
And here we are...hang on a second, let’s take a closer look at this...
Mannequin tit alert! And if you’re a guy, don’t pretend you’ve never looked at a mannequin’s tits longingly. Hell, I remember in my past, having mannequin tit jerk-off fantasies. And when I say my past, I’m talking about five days ago. But enough of that, we need to get a birthday gift for Sean!
I got Sean a P-town White Trash t-shirt which is being held up by Hannah who’s running the store today since owner Mollee is at a wedding. The t-shirt is designed by Devin McGlone, who also did the mural on the outer wall of Kenny’s Westside Pub. Let’s go travel forward in time and take a look at that mural...
There it is, love that mural and I love Kenny’s Westside Pub!
Brainchild returns...I never knew that they left!
And speaking of Brainchild, here they are outside in the front patio area, from left: Brandon, Jake, Roy and Pony Boy. Looking forward to seeing these guys in action tonight!
I love the neon in this front window!
Alright, let’s go in and get this birthday party started!
As you can see, the bar is jam-packed, but I see a spot there at the end to stop and get...
An ice-cold beer. Okay, this party has officially started. All we need to do now is find the birthday boy!
Okay, this table has cake, I think he’s got to be nearby...
Baboom, there he is, Sean Kenny, the official birthday guest of honor! Well, he’s not really a guest, since it’s his bar...but let’s not quibble over these small facts...
There’s cake to be had after all! And what a cool cake, this was made in the shape of the actual mandolin that Sean plays. Pretty cool! And it was tasty as well!
Here’s Sean getting ready to open the presents from Moxie’s ReSale Boutique. I love the signature leopard skin bags that they put the gifts in!
Okay, we already knew he was getting that, but here’s gift number two...
It’s a box of 51 of the most popular drinking games on this planet earth! This may just be a new blog series where we attempt to play all 51 of these in one evening at Kenny’s. Stay tuned for that!
Here’s Sean’s parents, Tim and Sally, they’re great people and I’ve known Sally for decades. Really great to see both of them!
Jeff was on board and helping out with the sound as he’s part of the AV Team here tonight. He’s also the owner of Daxis Computing and he told me he’s a regular MBIP reader, which as we all know, I always love to hear!
Meghan and Joe just arrived to the party! Meghan’s not only one of my favorite people in the world, she’s also running for President in 2016! I know who I’m voting for!
You can’t visit Kenny’s without bumping into Cramer, but this time he was with his sister, Sara! Very nice to meet her and always a treat to hang out with Cramer!
David came up to me and said hello and it was so cool to see him. He was my brother Jim’s neighbor and I haven’t seen him since he was a wee child, knee high to a dandelion! Now he’s all grown up and I really feel old!
And here’s another blast from the past, Gene-O White! I haven’t seen Gene in years and it was fun to catch up with him!
Here’s Kyle who bartends here and we last saw him a few weeks ago at New Amsterdam. Tonight he was enjoying himself on the other side of the bar.
Always love to see Bob Whitaker!
Brandon and Roy are getting set up, looks like it’s just about...
Showtime! Ladies and gentlemen, please enjoy the musical stylings of Brainchild!
And they’re off and sounding great as always!
Here’s Roy getting into it...
I love it when he starts wailing on guitar like this. If you’ve never seen Brainchild you should definitely check them out, one of the best local bands ever!
TJ was in the house and we last saw him at Peoria Pizza Works taking pictures. He took some photos this night as well and sent them to me and here they are below.
TJ photo number one: Photo credit to Temple J Ohl (TJ).
TJ photo number two: Photo credit to Temple J Ohl (TJ). Thanks for sending these in TJ, I owe you a beer the next time we see each other!
Happy Birthday to Sean and thanks for a fun party at Kenny’s! We’ll see you all tomorrow!

Bonus Photos From The Celebrity Swine Competition At The Heart of Illinois Fair!
I put up a notice yesterday about the Celebrity Swine Competition at the Heart of Illinois Fair I was invited to take part in and it turns out I wasn’t the swine after all! It basically was a competition where you walked with a pig around a square filled with hay. Here’s some photos of the festivities.
The event was held in this green barn.
As always, I’m a little early, so I went to the beer garden and then returned...
To have my picture taken with Marc from WWCT and Greg from WMBD! I’m wearing my very own P-town White Trash t-shirt and I’ve brought my fire chief hat for good luck in the competition.
And here’s the whole crew who’s taking part in this competition. And by the way, all the photos are taken by MBIP pal, Greg Haney! Thanks, Greg!
Here we are being briefed on how to handle our pigs. All of a sudden I’m craving a pork chop sandwich.
Wow, these aren’t little piglets, they all weigh over two hundred pounds!
And here come the pigs!
The contest begins and my pig is named Candace and she basically just wants to stand and eat hay. I want to sit and drink beer but that isn’t going to happen for a little bit.
Here I am brushing Candace, the excitement can hardly be contained at this point!
As you can see, we haven’t moved much, I don’t think I’m going to end up winning this competition this year.
My prediction came true, Judge Jodi Hoos won the Celebrity Swine Competition and I’m very happy for her. Oh and Jodi, remember to put a good word in for me at the Peoria Courthouse, I need all the help there I can get!
On the way back to the beer tent I saw something that made my entire day and evening, I glanced at this bench and thought it said, “I BLEW 34 RETIREES.” Ha! I love it when that happens! If you haven't made it out to the Heart Of Illinois Fair there's still plenty of time to check it out. There's plenty of special events still happening and you can check it out right here!
