Dori Garrison has been my official hair stylist for years and the last time she was giving me a trim, I told her how every time I get a haircut I see more and more gray hair. This led us to talking about people dyeing their hair, I told her that I had never had my hair dyed and the next thing you know...
I’m off to go get my hair dyed blonde! Hey, that’s the way things happen here at MBIP! It’s fast and furious, so don’t blink or you might miss something!
Here we are at Salon True, where Dori does her hair cutting, coloring and styling. I did a post here way back in January of 2013 when this blog was less than a month old, so I’m overdue to do a post here! In fact I’m...dying to do one here! Oof! Sorry about that, just couldn’t be helped, okay, lets go in and see what’s happening inside.
It’s really nice in here, I love the blue atmosphere and wooden floor. And I think I see a familiar face over there...
It’s Dori Garrison, the official MBIP Hair Stylist looking...well, gorgeous! Of course I’m early, so we’ll take a little stroll around Salon True till she’s done with her current client.
Here’s a shot from the back of the salon.
The front desk is located at the front of the salon, exactly where it should be! I love it when things work out like that, it’s like symmetry in motion...or something like that.
This pretty woman is Leslie who’s also a stylist here and told me she’s a faithful MBIP reader! She’s also going to help out with photos once the hair dyeing begins. Both her and Dori’s contact information are listed below if you’d like to have one of them cut, color and/or style your hair. Also note the unplanned double obligatory mirror shot going on here! I think that's the first time that's ever happened!
A teensy tiny Christmas tree is located over here in this corner. It brings back memories of this TV special!
That sign can only mean one thing...
Dori’s chair is all empty! Hair dye time has arrived!
There’s Dori’s work station over there and check up there on top...delicious Andes candies!
Here’s a Garrison family portrait on the wall above her work station. What a beautiful family! I went to high school with Dori and her husband Jack and we’ve had a lot of fun through the years! And some of it I can actually remember!
Okay, take one last look at this head of hair, for it’s going to be transformed real soon!
There’s going to be lots of obligatory mirror shots in this post! Hopefully this will make up for the lack of ones in the Donnelly’s post that Dan#2 was upset about!
This is the goop that’s going to turn my hair blonde. I thought Dori would use some sort of coloring, but she told me they strip the color out to a certain degree for different people and there’s a real science to it. All of this has kind of gone over my head...and I’m not even blonde yet!
Okay, here we go! Gray today...blonde a little later!
Here’s Dori expertly applying the product in my hair. She said it’s got to be timed and watched real closely for the whole procedure.
As you can see, the blonde is starting to happen! I’ve got a little bit of an older Johnny Rotten vibe going on here!
It kind of looks like my hair’s coated in Cool Whip from the back!
Now it’s time to rinse...
Wow, you can really see the blonde hair now!
This looks like when I took my Kitchen Cooked tour...memories!
Dori is drying as I take one last obligatory mirror shot for the day, this time as a blonde!
Hey, Blondie! This hair has given me a brand new attitude, somebody get Madonna on the phone and let’s book a special MBIP Blonde Ambition tour!
Here’s a blondie selfie I took at home. Thanks to Dori for doing a great dye job and to Leslie for helping out with the photos. Stay tuned to upcoming MBIP posts to see if blondes actually do have more fun! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
