Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, PVII with special guest stars, Leah, Lisa and Don and featuring the Ready For Prime Beef Player, Marty Wombacher. And now, please welcome this week’s host out on Allen Road, PVII!
Another week, another mystery car awaits to take us to tonight’s dining destination! Let’s see who’s inside of this vehicle.
It’s my friends Leah, Lisa and...
Don! Great to see all of them and we haven’t been out since we went to One World for the 36th week of pizza back when we were doing the MBIP Year Of Pizza Tour. That was over a year ago, so we’re overdue for another dinner and it’s off we go to...
PVII Restaurant. I’ve never been here, but I’ve heard great things about this place, so let’s go inside and let this Saturday Night adventure begin!
The dining room is really spacious and it’s got an inviting atmosphere to it.
Tables line the walls and there’s booths in the back. We decided to go back there and snare one of the booths. It’s a quiet night in here because it’s Halloween and people are either taking their kids trick or treating or people are out at the bars, whooping it up. We decided to have a nice dinner instead, although Leah, Lisa and Don gave me a huge bag of Halloween candy, which was really nice and I’ll probably have it for breakfast on Sunday!
This is our pretty and friendly waitress Elissa who took our drink order and then...
Took our picture with our drinks at the booth! The night is officially underway!
This is the view from our booth, which we’ve affectionately named, John Wilkes.
There’s a back dining room over here.
More booths are lined up against the wall over here in the back.
I love this stone column in the center of the dining room with the fireplace in it. It gives the room a nice warm and fuzzy-wuzzy feeling.
There’s a nice bar over here where you can enjoy a drink and have dinner at the bar.
PVII is owned by Chef Josh Utrech and his wife Amy. I spoke with Amy on the phone the other week to make sure they were open on Halloween and she said they were, but they weren’t going to be here because they were taking their kids out trick or treating. Maybe we can meet them next time, but till then here’s a great picture of Josh, Amy and those trick or treating kids of theirs on the wall!
There’s our meals being prepared in the kitchen!
Speaking of our meals, I bet our appetizers are about to come out, I better get back to our booth!
Here we are back at John Wilkes Booth and just in time because...
The appetizers have arrived and they look fantastic! We got an order of Meatballs and the Butternut Squash Ravioli. The meatballs were huge and they’re served in homemade marina sauce and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese. They were really tasty, but...
The Butternut Squash Ravioli stole the appetizer show! The ravioli is stuffed with butternut squash and served in a nutmeg cream sauce. The butternut squash has a slight sweet taste to it and it also reminded us of pumpkins, perfect for this Halloween night!
Instead of a salad I got the Lobster Bisque, which Leah recommended and it was probably the best Lobster Bisque soup I’ve ever had. The soup is creamy and rich with big chunks of rock lobster and topped with chives. I also added a healthy dollop of pepper. It was so good!
And now time for the main event, here’s Elissa with the main courses!
The dinners look absolutely amazing! Clockwise from top left: Lisa got the stuffed Filet Mignon, Don got the Bourbon Glazed Salmon, Leah got the Stuffed Pork Chop and I got an order of Rollatini. All the food here is made from scratch and they almost look to good to eat! But we dug in anyway!
We all shared our entrees with each other and adjectives fail me as to how great this dinner was! We all agreed it was one of the best meals we’ve all ever had! You can read more about it in the review below, but it was really a fantastic and tasty meal!
Even though we were stuffed after dinner, Elissa recommended the Tre Leches cake for dessert, so we got a piece and it was the perfect end to a wonderful dinner!
It was really a wonderful dinner and I really had a great time with Leah, Lisa and Don! And Leah generously bought dinner, so thanks to her and to everyone at PVII for a fantastic Halloween dinner! I’m hoping we can make this a yearly tradition!
This was such an amazing meal, all the food is made from scratch at PVII and this was evident from the time the appetizers arrived. The meatball appetizer is way beyond appetizer proportions and could really be a main course! As I stated above the Butternut Squash Ravioli really stole the appetizer show. You get ten pasta squares stuffed with rich and creamy butternut squash. The squash has a slight sweet flavor and the nutmeg cream sauce is the perfect compliment for the squash-filled pasta.
Instead of a salad I got a cup of the Lobster Bisque and it was so tasty! The soup is creamy and has a nice rich flavor and there’s chunks of tender rock lobster floating in the soup. It was so good and tasty and the cup was more of a bowl, the portions here are beyond generous!
We all got different main courses and split them and all of them were fabulous meals! i ordered the Rollatini which is two chicken breasts rolled with mozzarella cheese and prosciutto then it’s lightly fried and baked in a mushroom cream sauce. I’ve never had this dish before and it was so delicious. The chicken was juicy and tender and the mozzarella cheese and prosciutto added some really nice creamy and savory flavors to the mix and the mushroom cream sauce was rich and borderline decadent, so tasty and good! All the other dishes were equally delightful and we all agreed that this was one of the best dinners we’ve ever had!
One Word Descriptions
I asked Leah, Lisa and Don for a one word description of their meals and here’s what they said: Leah: “Scrumptious”, Lisa: “Lovely”, and Don: “Delicious.”
