I recently heard of a book store here in Peoria that has an inventory pretty much devoted to paperback books. I don’t think I’ve ever been in an all paperback book store and so I decided we must investigate this place! To the MBIP Mobile!
Off we go into the wild and bright blue yonder. Not a cloud in the sky and that rotten sunshine is really beaming down, kind of giving me a headache. I really need to look into getting some prescription sunglasses!
And here we are at The Book Rack. The store is located in a strip of stores off of Knoxville Avenue.
Check it out, you can get your taxes done here too, this is one unique book store! Let’s go in and see what’s going on in here!
This is the owner of The Book Rack, Mark Schmitt, seated behind his desk at the front of the store. And he’s not only the owner of the store, he is indeed a tax accountant and you can have your taxes done here in addition to browsing for paperback books.
Speaking of paperback books, I’ve never seen so many in my life! Here’s just a sampling of them next to Mark’s desk. But there’s more...
And here’s Mark leading the way to all of these paperback books!
Wow, there’s tons of them, I’ve never seen so many paperbacks in one location!
Mark told me that romance paperbacks are his biggest seller and the majority of people buying them are women. Hmm...maybe I need to start hanging out in the romance section here!
And to prove his point, here’s another room devoted to the romance paperbacks!
He told me this best seller section is popular too.
Here’s a harsh reminder that old man winter is just around the corner. Brrrr, that’s a chilly realization!
The tax returns are done at this table over here.
There are some hardback books in here, like this pile up at the top of this bookcase, but the store is mainly populated with paperbacks, which I think is really cool!
Here’s a shot from the back of the store.
At first when I saw this title, I thought it was a cookbook written by Jeffrey Dahmer. Maybe he was the ghost writer on the project.
In addition to books and getting your taxes done, you can also purchase a nice Book Rack paperback book cover in here. Very nice!
And there’s free candy! I love this place! Thanks to Mark for the tour and we’ll see you all tomorrow!

MBIP Coin Counting Contest @ Facecrack—Winner, Winner...Chicken Dinner!
So I went and cashed in the coins from the facecrack contest and here’s how it went down!
Okay, it all started with this tub of coins I’ve been saving for close to three years!
One thing I discovered is that coins are heavy! I had to put them in four separate garbage bags to haul them away from MBIP World Headquarters to...
The Shop ‘n Save grocery store. I put them in a cart and wheeled them to...
The coin counting station!
Okay, here we go!
I couldn’t believe how fast this thing counts coins and check out the totals going sky high! My personal guess was 347.25. Looks I lost!
And here is where it stopped! $768.88! I’m rich, bitch!
Well, after they subtracted the service fee, I got 685.07, but still, that’s hardly chump change! But we’re going with the grand total, which is $768.88. And now on to announce the grand prize winner!
But before I do, I do want to clarify that someone asked if we were playing by the “Price is Right” rules where if you go over you lose. I really didn’t think about that when I posted the contest, so I said that going over was okay, it’s the closest number that wins. So, keeping that in mind, the grand prize winner of the MBIP Change Counting Contest is...
Amanda Decker! Amanda came really close with her guess of $797.36 and she wins 57 dollars and lunch at the destination of her choice! Congratulations, Amanda! If you want to bring a guest along to lunch feel free! Send me an email or DM me on facecrack and we’ll set up the details and the celebratory lunch will be posted soon on MBIP! Thanks again to everyone who played along with this contest! I think we’ll do more of these in the future!
