The last time I ate at Two25 in the Mark Twain Hotel I noticed that they had gourmet pizza on their menu and made a note to go there some night on the pizza tour because it’s about a three minute drive from where I work. I’m kind of frazzled tonight, so a three minute trip and then some pizza and beer sounds perfect. To the MBIP Mobile!
Here we go on a short little ride...
And almost exactly three minutes later, here we are at Two25, which, as you can see, is named for it's street address on Adams Street here in the Mark Twain Hotel in downtown Peoria.
Let's go in and begin our 33rd week of pizza...33 weeks? Kind of hard to believe. Time flies when you're on a cheesy journey.
I really like the atmosphere in here with all the brick, wood and the low-lighting.
There's our destination, the bar. I think we'll sit over there on the side this time, that stool seems to be calling out to us!
Here's the view from that aforementioned stool. A stool sample, if you will! Oof!
Sparkly glasses hang overhead and bravely defy gravity. Take that gravity, you heartless bastard that only bring things down!
Here's a blast from the MBIP past, bartender Shane! He was on duty the first time we came in here for a Saturday Night Cheeseburger on July 1st, 2013 and he remembered me. Great to see him again!
Here's the list of gourmet pizzas on the menu and look, they've got BBQ Chicken pizza like we had last week at McCritter's. I loved that so let's try theirs. The order is placed and so let's take a look around in here.
They have a nice craft beer selection in here and here's a list of them at the bar with information about each selection. Very nice!
And here's five of those crafty taps...
And here's five more, check out the nitro tap on the far right...
There's a black hand clutching the tap. I like that!
They have their own custom coasters which is always a plus!
Here's a dining room up front with comfortable booths and tables.
Here's a shot of the main dining room, I know it's a little fuzzy, just another spastic moment from the untrustworthy MBIP camera. What are you going to do?
As you can see, they have an extensive scotch and cigar list with each one getting a full page menu of the selections.
Here's some of the cigars...
And the scotch would be had back here at the bar. I don't drink scotch but I do eat pizza and it looks like it's about ready to show up here. And once again I've forgotten to bring a bottle of the Ragin' RR Tabasco Sauce and our only choice here is the always-present Frank's Red Hot Sauce.
Here it is, the 33rd pizza of our saucy journey presented by Jo, the other pretty bartender on duty!
It looks good and now time for...
The all-important cooling process which gives me an excuse to order another beer while the cheese cools down to a heat level that won't blister the roof of my mouth.
I was really excited to try their version of BBQ Chicken pizza because last week's was so good, but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in this one. There's just not much taste to it and the crust is kind of dry. Kind of dry and bland. I really like this place and it's not horrible pizza, just kind of tasteless.
I had a few more pieces and while it wasn't terrible it certainly wasn't up to last week's BBQ Chicken pizza. I do highly recommend the bar though, it's a great place to hang out at.
Okay, time for the next day cold pizza challenge and as you can see, we're down to one lonely Baba bottle of beer. We may have a new six pack in the craft beer corner of the MBIP fridge next week!
It's actually a little tastier cold, but still pretty bland. Oh well, you can't win them all, we'll see you next week!
Pizza Rating
Two Chef Boyardees—I had a great steak there, but the pizza just didn’t do it for me. It was actually better cold, so if you do go, I suggest letting the pie sit in the fridge overnight.
