I heard that MBIP pal, Gavra is performing tonight at The Tartan Inn. We last saw her play there back in December and I think it’s time for an encore performance! To the MBIP Mobile we go!
The take-off has begun and we're cruising at a comfortable 24 miles per hour.
And here we are at The Tartan Inn. Lots of neon in the windows and the familiar Budweiser sign looms in the distance that's been there forever.
And here's the star of the evening, Gavra Lynn, relaxing out on the front stoop with her friend, Angela. Gavra had just ended her first set and was taking a break, we'll see more of her in a bit.
Wow, Gavra's really packed them in here, it's a full house. Right off the bat I see a familiar face...
It's Joanne with her friend Banjo relaxing at the bar.
And check it out, here's an empty spot at the bar, perfect time to...
Swoop in and get an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser from Marie, the pretty bartender on duty.
I ran into Jenny at the bar (pictured in the middle sporting her Coop Records shirt, sadly that business recently closed) and she gathered up her crew for this photo. Check out Michelle in the background photobombing the picture!
And here's Jenny with her friend Shea, they've been friends for over 22 years! Shea inspired this Beatles flashback moment.
It turns out that Shea's a regular reader of MBIP, which I always love to find out and here's the two of us with Shea's phone tuned into MBIP! Hooray!
This bulletin board is covered with local business cards, let's take a closer look...
Ha, there's a card from my pals over at All Smiles Dental Care! I'll see that card and...
Raise them two MBIP cards. Checkmate!
Here's a shot of the lit-up bottles behind the bar.
And check it out, here's some friends we haven't seen for awhile, they've been hibernating all winter, from left: Wyoming Joe, Michelle, Bad Brad and Todd! Great to see all of them!
It's a family affair, Shannon (on the left) is Michelle's niece who was guzzling bottled water all night and Wyoming Joe (on the right) is Michelle's brother.
Cheers from Amber and Justin! Long-time readers of my blogs will remember that we met Amber quite a while back on a beery-eyed Christmas morning!
Justin wrote for the PJ Star for a while and here he is with one of his former editors, Brad. Justin's now working on his blog, Story of the Summer, check it out here.
And look, here's Matt who we saw last Saturday, playing guitar and singing with his band, Cosmic Dice. It turns out that Amber lives next door to where the band rehearses and that means that we must cue up..."It's A Small World After All!" Sorry about that, but it had to be done!
This reminds me, we're here to see Gavra sing, where the hell is she?
Here's her guitar and songbook, she can't be too far from here...
Ladies and gentlemen, it's Gavra Lynn with...
Frank Clark on guitar and...
Roger Kelch on bass.
Gavra sounded great as always and put on a wonderful show!
Gavra played one of my favorite songs by The Flying Burrito Brothers, Juanita and dedicated it to me, how cool!
I"m not the only one taking photos in here.
Here's Michelle and Bad Brad digging the tunes!
It was a great show by Gavra, thanks to her, The Tartan Inn and everybody who showed up, what a fun night out on the town! We'll see you all tomorrow...and hey, let's be careful out there!
