Back on April 18th, I tried to go to Katie McButts, a bar that’s been on Knoxville here in Peoria forever, but it was closed. So I thought that since we didn’t succeed back then, we’d try and try again! So it’s off we go!
We'll take the first exit on I-74 which is...
Right here, Knoxville Avenue. I've totally gotten over my fear of driving on the interstate and have gotten pretty decent at driving and taking pictures, if I do say so myself and I just did, so there!
Okay, Katie McButt's is straight ahead up here on Knoxville.
There's the Old Style sign that Katrink pointed out the other day and I see neon lit up in the windows...
Let's go in and see what's shaking at Katie McButts.
Motherfucker, the door is locked, this place is closed again! It's 10:15 PM on a Thursday night and they've closed already? Maybe it's me. Okay, time to improvise!
That looks like a bar sign down the road, let's go check that out.
Beer 30, sounds like the right time to me!
The sign says, "Open..."
Let's see if that sign is telling the truth.
Yes! They are open and I spy a seat at the end of the bar. Let's go snag it and get this party started!
The seat is snagged and here's friendly bartender, Jonah serving up beer number one of the evening.
This is the view from my end of the bar.
As you can see, there's a big selection of beer to be had here!
Here's the liquor selection in the center of the bar standing at attention.
Jason also bartends here, and was enjoying a drink off duty, but jumped behind the bar to post with Jonah.
Joy and Scott were also chilling out at the bar and posed for the MBIP camera.
Here's the nightly specials on display behind the bar.
Lights hang overhead underneath the wooden ceiling.
If you like pool, this place has you covered. There's one opposite the bar in the front room...
And this doorway leads to...
A huge room with three more pool tables.
There's a wooden island in the middle of the room to sit and relax at while you enjoy a drink or three.
Jason told me the bar is going to feature live music and the first show is August 24th with local musician Brian Dennison playing a few sets.
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
Beer number two is served up with the traditional double finger salute! Cheers and we'll see you all tomorrow.

Bonus Press Release From Craig Moore!
I just got this press release about a show at Younger Than Yesterday starring Yardbirds drummer, Jim McCarty this Sunday. I’m going to the 4PM show and hope to see all of you there! Here’s the information from Craig:
Jim McCarty appears with friends on the stage at Younger Than Yesterday Sunday, August 4, for a one-off exclusive set of shows at 1PM and 4PM. This will be his first appearance in Peoria since 1992, prior to a recording session in Memphis at Sun Studio, with Younger Than Yesterday owner Craig Moore. The Yardbirds famously appeared at Expo Youth Building in 1966 shortly after Jeff Beck left the tour and the band, leaving Jimmy Page to become the only guitarist in the band. Peoria actually saw one of the first shows of The Yardbirds as a 4-piece band! Keith Relf was very ill that night, after traveling in a drafty bus throughout the Midwestern winter. He was taken to Methodist Hospital for a B-12 shot, and played the show, mostly on harmonica while Jim McCarty sang all of the songs!
Very limited capacity, no tickets—first come, first served, $10 cover. Between and after shows Jim will be available at a Meet 'N Greet next door to YTY in a specially set-up room, with CD's, DVD's & records available, as well as some very limited exclusive T-shirts. Folks who attend the first show will be directed out to the Meet 'N Greet while second show new arrival attendees are allowed to enter Younger Than Yesterday. If space is still available after new arrivals get in, those who attended the first show will be allowed back in as space permits.
