Steven Hager and John Holmstrom in the High Times boardroom circa 1997

An interview with John Holmstrom who was the publisher of High Times and Steven Gaines who was the editor in 1997. It was really cool for me because John Holmstrom along with Legs McNeil co-founded Punk magazine. I had met Legs four years earlier and it was great to finally meet John.

This was an interesting interview with topics ranging from government and marijuana, to Beavis and Butthead to punk rock to stories about the founder of High Times, Tom Forcade.

This interview was for our, “Just Say Dope,” issue of fishwrap. In addition to the High Times Interview, we had a Dopey Magazine of the Month, a dopey comparison between the New York Times and High Times and a special “Bud of the Month insert featuring Bud Anderson from the TV show, “Father Knows Best.” This was one of my favorite issues of fishwrap!
