Signpost ahead, it’s Castaways Bar & Grill in Chillicothe, Illinois!

This is one of the first Saturday Night Cheeseburger destinations I went to when I started this blog. Check out this post from over 13 years ago! I can’t believe that was over 13 years ago, fun sure does fly when you’re having time!

It hasn’t changed a bit since then, okay, let’s go in and start this week’s Saturday night adventure!

Wow, there’s a nice crowd in here tonight and luckily I found a seat at the very end of the tiki bar in here.

Let’s get settled in and let Saturday night begin!

Shay was one of the pretty and friendly bartenders on duty and here she is serving me up a Saturday night beer along with a beautiful smile.

She took my dinner order and we are off and running tonight!

There’s the view from where I’m perched at the bar and there’s the quartet of beers on tap.

They have a nice outdoor beer garden with tables, tents and a stand alone tiki bar out here, nice!

Back inside I ran into my friends, Tim and Jon’l Alexander!

Great to see then and they are the parents of one half of the featured musical duo for tonight, John & Gabi! They are part of the John and Gabi team and Tim is the co-manager and booking agent and Jon’l takes care of promotions and graphic design.

There’s another dining room over here in this side room and there’s the daily dinner specials on the wall.

Here they are, the aforementioned musical guests for the evening, John and Gabi!

Well, actually it’s Gabi and John in this photo! Great to see both of them and you’ll see them in action soon. They said they’re going to start their first set in about a half an hour. I’m looking forward to that!

Meanwhile, back at the bar, our Saturday night dinner has arrived and it looks spectacular!

I got the bacon cheeseburger with a side order of tater tots.

The tater tots were light, crispy and delicious!

I added a large dollop of mustard to the bacon cheeseburger and now let’s dig in to tonight’s main course!

Wow, this was a fantastic burger!

I got it with onions and the bacon was smoky, savory and crispy. The cheddar cheese was rich and creamy and the bun was bakery fresh, what a fabulous bacon cheeseburger!

And now, it’s time for the after dinner show for the evening.

Tim introduced John and Gabi and they started their first set of the evening!

John and Gabi are a fantastic and entertaining duo!

They play classic rock, pop and country songs and this first set included their takes on Something To Talk About, California Dreamin’, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, Jolene, Nine To Five and many more!

After the first set they were presented with a cake marking their 50th musical performance tonight and everyone snapped photos of the musical duo.

Then Tim presented them with plaques marking this special night of their musical journey.

Then they flew into the second set of the evening!

They both share lead vocals and John plays, guitar, harmonica and keyboards and Gabi adds various percussive instruments to the musical mix. For a duo, they have a big and harmonious sound.

The crowd loved the show!
