Mommie Dearest Film Screening & Book Signing With A. Ashley Hoff @: Peoria Riverfront Museum

by MBIP

Mommie Dearest is an unintentional campy classic movie. It wasn’t meant to be campy or funny, but it’s both and a truly unique movie.

I haven’t watched this movie for years and when I heard it was going to be playing at the Peoria Riverfront Museum’s giant screen theater, I immediately bought tickets. And when I found out that A. Ashley Hoff who has written the definitive  book on this film, “With Love, Mommie Dearest: The Making of an Unintentional Camp Classic” was going to be there introducing the film and signing his book, it was definitely an evening I was looking forward to!

Photos from this evening that happened last week are below, keep on scrolling!

Here we are at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, hey check out the sign, nice! I just hope there’s no wire hangers in there!

Okay, we’ll climb the stairs and start this evening at the Peoria Riverfront Museum!

There’s the beautiful lobby area and as we walk along we’ll make sure our ducks are all in a row and we’ll check in at the concession area over there.

And it’s into the Giant Screen Theater we go!

I love this theater and the upcoming Finding Titanic exhibit is displayed on the big screen. I’m looking forward to checking that out.

There’s author A. Ashley Hoff, holding his book, “With Love, Mommie Dearest: The Making of an Unintentional Camp Classic.” He’s the special guest tonight and will give a talk before the movie, which I’m looking forward to. He’s a Peoria native and it was a pleasure to meet him!

Here’s A. Ashley with another Peoria author, Molly Crusen Bishop. Molly’s the author of 100 Thiings To Do In Peoria Before You Die and she and A. Ashley went to high school together here in Peoria.

Molly took a photo of myself and A. Ashley. And since we’re plugging books, you might want to check this one out as well!

There’s John Morris, President and CEO of the Peoria Riverfront Museum, always a pleasure to see John!

I also ran into Roxy Baker, who hosts the popular radio show, Roxy in the Afternoon on 105.7 the X and she was with her friend, Angie Walker. Great to see both of them!

Author, A. Ashley Hoff gave a nice talk before the movie and then introduced the film.

Ladies and gentlemen…we now present…

Mommie Dearest!

It was wonderful to see this movie again after all of these years. And even better seeing it in this fabulous big screen theater!

Here’s ten of the best lines from this film.

A. Ashley Hoff Book Signing

After the screening of Mommie Dearest, A. Ashely Hoff autographed copies of his fabulous book about the film, “With Love, Mommie Dearest: The Making of an Unintentional Camp Classic” .

I bought a copy and got in line and there’s A. Ashley autographing my copy.

This was such a fun evening. Wonderful to see everyone and to meet author, A. Ashley Hoff! You definitely need to check out his Mommie Dearest book and he also has written a fun book on the Match Game TV show!

Thanks to A. Ashley for coming back to Peoria and hosting such a fun evening at the Peoria Riverfront Museum!
