On the last episode of Friday Bites, I posted a reddit thread where someone was looking for a “bomb ass snack shop” in Peoria.
Someone suggested the Asian Market on University and it’s a place I had often wondered about, but never stopped in. So I went and it had a wonderful selection of snack items.
Well, right below that suggestion was another one suggesting the Indian market on University in the same strip mall as Dixon’s Seafood Shoppe.
The name of that store is Swagat Food & Grocery and it’s located nearby where I get my hair cut. I’ve looked at that place so many times and have always wanted to check it out. And so that is today’s snack destination.
Will it be a “bomb ass snack shop?” Time will tell, off we go!
Here we are at Swagat Food & Grocery. It’s right down from Dixon’s Seafood Shoppe in The Tanglewood Center on University Street.
I like the colorful photos in the windows, let’s go in and see what’s happening inside.
This nice gentleman was behind the cash register and he told me to feel free to take photos in here and so here we go!
Wow, lots of snack options in the aisles in here!
It’s bigger than I thought in here and it’s very clean and orderly.
Okay, I’ve gotten this week’s snack supply, back to MBIP World Headquarters Snacking Area!

MBIP World Headquarters Snacking Area
Here we are back at the MBIP World Headquarters Snacking Area and there’s the five snack items I purchased at Swagat Food & Grocery.
I thought that this week we’d try an all cookies snack presentation and here we go! Let the snacking begin!
——
Snack Number One: Abu Walad Sandwich Biscuits
The first cookie snack is Abu Walad Sandwich Biscuits.
I’m guessing that’s Abu on the front of the package and he looks like a mixture of both Donnie and Marie Osmond. He’s a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n roll and he’s also a biscuit model. Way to multi-task, Abu!
Okay, these are tasty, yet not overly sweet cookies. They have a nice subtle flavor. I am however bummed out that the last photo is a little fuzzed out. This will bother me all day and let’s just keep moving along here!
——
Snack Number Two: Halley Mini
These cookies are individually wrapped and that’s impressive to me! Yes, it doesn’t take a lot to impress me.
These were tasty and sweet, but I was a little disappointed that they didn’t quite match the photo on the front of the package.
Oh well, once again, let’s just keep moving along here.
——
Snack Number Three: McVitie’s Digestives
McVitie’s Digestives sound more like an antacid medicine than a cookie, but let’s try them out.
They’re coated with a chocolate icing on one side and plain on the bottom.
This is a delicious cookie and my heartburn is all gone! It’s a miracle cookie!
——
Snack Number Four: Yany Sandwich Cream Biscuits
Okay, these are exactly the same as the Abu biscuits, except that Yani doesn’t look like Donnie or Marie Osmond and the last picture isn’t a fuzzy mess. I feel better about things now, so again, let’s keep moving along!
——
Snack Number Five: Oreo Banadas
I feel sorry for the fellow on the front of the package that got walloped in the face with snow!
Anyway, these are Oreo Cookies covered in chocolate and they are quite delicious! Plus they come individually wrapped and two in a pack.
So, in conclusion, let’s summarize: Swagat Food & Grocery—Yes, it gets and deserves the esteemed title of a “Bomb Ass Snack Shop.”
Hooray and happy snacking, everyone!
