Saturday Afternoon @: Peoria Bicentennial Block Party

by MBIP

Live, from Peoria, it’s Saturday Afternoon starring this week’s host, Downtown Peoria and featuring musical guests, Maggie Speaks.

Now please welcome this week’s host, Downtown Peoria!

We’re out on a rare Saturday afternoon!

Last Saturday afternoon there was a block party on Main Street and Adams celebrating Peoria’s 200th Bicentennial Anniversary and I was there and here’s some photos from the fun anniversary street party.

Here’s the entrance and Eden and Terry were welcoming everyone into the party! Wonderful to see their smiling faces and now let’s go in and check out this bicentennial street party in beautiful downtown Peoria!

There’s a nice crowd here and I remember that tall juggling fellow from the Fourth of July celebration down here a few months ago!

They have nine port-a-potties in a row, which is nice, because when you gotta go, you gotta go!

There’s a rock climbing wall and this guy is climbing it at a break neck speed! Yes, he made it to the top! Hooray!

Check out the water slide over here, it takes longer to walk up to the top than it does to slide down!

There was a wide array of vendors on hand with everything from art to beer to popcorn to whiskey available at this street party!

For the last few months in honor of Peoria’s Bicentennial, painted bison sculptures have been popping up all over town and they gathered all of them here for this street party, let’s go take a look at this Bisontennial presentation!

Whoever had the idea to do this was a genius!

I love all of these festive and fun bison creations and you can check them all out by clicking on this link and scrolling down.

They had a nice variety of food trucks for the celebration and I decided to try out the Mac Daddy truck.

I have never seen this food truck and mac and cheese sounded like a delicious treat on this fun Saturday afternoon.

I got an order of the Pig Strips Mac, which is their homemade mac and cheese topped off with crispy and smoky bacon!

The savory bacon mixed nicely with the rich and creamy mac and cheese and this was a real taste sensation on a wonderful Saturday afternoon!

When I saw the Triple Dipple’s truck, I knew right away what we were having for dessert: Their delicious cheesecake!

I went over and said hi to Harreld who’s always got a wonderful smile and is a pleasure to talk to!

I got a sweet order of the Turtle Cheesecake and it was so rich, creamy and delicious!

As the afternoon turned into early evening, the band, Maggie Speaks took to the stage and ripped it up!

This is a lively and fun band and the crowd loved them! They put on a fantastic show!

As I was getting ready to head out I happened upon this Photo Booth which was absolutely free to take a few selfies, so I hopped in and got some free photos to remember this fun afternoon.

You’ve heard of four for a quarter, well this was three for free!

Happy 200th Birthday, Peoria! Thanks for a fun Saturday bicentennial party!
