Trefzger’s Bakery is one of the most iconic and well-known local Peoria’s businesses ever. It’s a legendary bakery that’s been in service here in Peoria since 1861 in various locations.

3504 N. PROSPECT ROAD
Trefzger’s Bakery started out in downtown Peoria in 1861. In the early 1950’s it moved to this location on Prospect Road.
Here we are inside this cozy location of this legendary Peoria bakery.
There was usually a line in here and at Christmas time, the line would spill out on to the sidewalk.
There’s the owners of Trefzger’s behind the counter, Jeff and Martha Huebner. They’re both friendly and welcoming business owners.
They gave me a behind the scenes tour of the back of the bakery where the goodies are prepared.

4416 N. PROSPECT ROAD
In the summer of 2015, Jeff told me that he had bought a new building in Peoria Heights to move the bakery to.
This was exciting news and he gave me an exclusive tour of this historic building in Peoria Heights.
There he is opening the place up.
I have to confess, it looked pretty rough inside and it was hard to imagine Trefzger’s Bakery in there.
But by May of 2016, I took another tour and was amazed by the transformation of this building. It looked all shiny and brand new.
Plus they had fixed up the top floors of the building as well for wedding receptions and other functions.

GRAND OPENING IN PEORIA HEIGHTS!
They opened up for business in this new building on October 14, 2015 and here’s some photos from this grand opening morning!
