Today we’re doing a rare thing for the blog, we’re going somewhere in the morning and I’m not a morning person. If you’ve ever noticed 99% of these blogs happen in the afternoon or the evening because I rarely leave the MBIP World Headquarters until after the noon hour has rung and signaled an end to this rotten thing called, “morning.”
But I really wanted to go to a place that I’ve heard good things about. It’s a bakery that bakes fresh doughnuts and that is all they sell. The name of the place is, Just Donuts, which makes sense, since that’s all they sell there
They’re also located in Canton, which will be about a 45 minute trip for me and they close at 11am. So I got up at the ungodly hour of 7:00 in the morning and I’m going to get there while they still have a decent amount to choose from.
I’ve got about a half a gallon of green tea in my system, so I’m well caffeinated for this journey. Now let’s hit the road before I decide to go back to bed!
Okay, through the miracle of these here interwebs, we’re already here in Canton, Illinois and there’s our doughnut destination, Just Donuts!
It look like a fun and cozy doughnut shop! I love their sign and logo!
Check out these signs in the front window, Just Donuts…So Donut Ask!
Ha ha ha! I love it!
The sign says that they are indeed open, so let’s go inside and see what’s happening in here.
There’s a couple of people ahead of us, so let’s take a look around while they’re being waited on.
There’s the menu and prices and the doughnuts are nicely priced here and quite affordable.
What a festive and sparkly Christmas tree they have in here!
Okay, I’m next in line! The owner of this place is, Janet Raisrick, but she wasn’t in, but her daughter Sunny and her sister, Carol were there and they took my order and posed for the MBIP Camera!
Great to meet both of them!
They had a nice selection of freshly baked doughnuts to choose from in here. Everything looks like a sweet and delicious treat, so it was tough to choose just two of them!
I made my choice and there’s Sunny getting them ready for the trip back to Peoria.
And once again, through the miracles of these here interwebs, we’re magically back in Peoria in the doughnut tasting area of The MBIP World Headquarters!
Time to unbag this week’s doughnut selections!
The doughnuts at Just Donuts all looked amazing and I chose these two. I’m not sure of the official names of these doughnuts because I forgot to ask, but they look simply amazing!
Let’s dig in to these sweet treats!
This one is covered in crushed nuts and when you bite inside you’re treated to a dense chocolate cake doughnut.
I love the combination of the crunchy, salty nutty outside layer and the sweet chocolate cake doughnut inside! This was quite a tasty and original doughnut and I loved it!
This one was a large and sweet doughnut treat! I loved the chocolate and vanilla fancy icing and the doughnut itself was light and airy and a sweet and decadent doughnut!
This was well worth the short trip to Canton and they were spectacular doughnuts!
