I thought Agatucci’s would be the perfect place to end this cheesy journey. It really kind of started there. Back in December of 2022, I stopped in to Agatucci’s for my Saturday night dinner and ordered their grilled cheese sandwich, which I had never tried before.
It was one of the few things I had never tried on their menu. I really enjoyed it and wondered how many other places out there had grilled cheese sandwiches on their menu in and around Peoria that I had never tried before.
This led me on a cheesy 23 week journey that is ending with a final grilled cheese sandwich right back at Agatucci’s, where this cheesy dream started out at!
A place known for Peoria pizza and spaghetti, but today we’re shining a light on their grilled cheese sandwich!
Here we are at Agatucci’s, a familiar destination on University Street. Let’s go in and begin our 23rd cheesy week of this tour.
As I enter in and walk over to a booth, I see two familiar faces over there…
It’s my friends, Amber and Joe! Great to have them along as we wind up this cheesy tour!
I knew I was geting the grilled cheese, but Amber and Joe checked out the menu as our friendly waitress Amanda brought me a bottle of Budweiser.
Cheers to our 23rd week of grilled cheesery!
After we placed our order, I went over to the bar to say hi to Tony and Danny Agatucci, the owners and operators of Agatucci’s and two of the nicest guys in town! Always great to see these two fellows!
There’s the classic Michelob light that hangs over the bar and the quartet of beers on tap here at the bar.
I had to get shots of the Budweiser neon and the backward Aggie’s clock, it’s just the rules when you’re doing a post in here!
There’s lots of memories on this wall in the back room. It’s fun to look at the photos and newspaper articles on one of Peoria’s oldest and best known restuarants!
Meanwhile, back at our booth, our appetizer order of the Fried Ravioli has appeared and it is so delicious. Note the meat sauce, it’s about to become an important player in tonight’s cheesy-ass dinner!
Amber and Joe split an Agatucci’s homemade pizza, a classic choice in here! They said it was delicious as it always is.
And here it is, the 23rd grilled cheese of our 23 week tour!
It’s a classic grilled cheese that they serve up here at Agatucci’s!
it’s grilled to perfection, buttery, crisp and so tasty…but I realized one thing would take it over the edge into grilled cheese perfection land…
I put some of the meat sauce from the Fried Ravioli and it took the grilled cheese sandwich into such a classic taste sensation!
This is so tasty and I highly recommend this combination to anyone who hasn’t experienced it before!
What a flavor sensation and this may just be the best grilled cheese of the entire tour!

CHEESY RATING
(4 Slice Rating System)
The final sandwich was the taste treat of the tour by combining the home-made meat sauce with the grilled cheese!
It gets a top-notch four slice rating!
Kudos to Agatucci’s for serving up such grilled cheese goodness!
Next week we’ll have a wrap-up of this cheesy tour and then a palate cleanser and then on to a new food tour here at MIBP!
Stay tuned, everyone!
