It’s hard to wrap my head around this, but one more week and this cheesy tour is over and done with!
We’re up to week number twenty two and we’re headed to Pekin for this week’s grilled cheese sandwich. We have a special guest star so let’s start this week’s cheesy episode!
Here we are at this week’s cheesy destination, Maquet’s Rail House in Pekin, Illinois.
Let’s go in and meet this week’s grilled cheese guest star!
There’s the bar and I see our cheesy guest star seated here…
It’s my friend, Artie, always great to see him and have him along for a post.
We checked out the menu and…
Debi, the pretty bartender on duty took our order and served us up a couple of drinks.
I love it when this happens!
As you can see, they have a large selection of beers on tap and a huge selection of canned and bottled beers in this cooler behind the bar.
You won’t go thirsty in here!
Here’s a shot from the end of the bar and there’s a gaming area in the corner for all of you gambler’s out there.
I love the bike suspended from the ceiling and how’s about them Cubbies?
There’s an additional room that they added here in 2019 with an Italian brick pizza oven imported from Naples, Italy.
Very impressive and we need to try the pizza on our next stop here!
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
Our appetizer order of chicken wings have arrived.
We got the BBQ wings and they were saucy and fantastic!
Artie got a tenderloin sandwich and gave it a rave review.
He said it was the perfect size and oh so flavorful.
Here’s an action shot of Artie just about to dive in to this tasty sandwich treat!
And here’s the star of this week’s cheesy post, the grilled cheese sandwich from Maquet’s Rail House.
They have three grilled cheese selections on their menu and I chose the Gouda Grilled Cheese which is a grilled cheese with Gouda cheese, mushrooms and fried onions.
It looks fabulous!
I got a side of pasta salad with the sandwich and it was a tasty treat. Now on to the main course!
This was such a tasty grilled cheese treat!
It was the first grilled cheese to feature Gouda cheese and fried mushrooms and onions.
What a tasty grilled treat!
