I’ve been to Brienzo’s Wood Fired Pizza for dinner here on the MBIP blog several times, but I’ve never been there for lunch.
We’ll fix that today by having lunch there and yes, as with most of these Lunch At First Bite posts, there is a special luncheon guest star for this episode. Keep scrolling along to find out who this special guest star is!
Here we are at Brienzo’s Wood Fired Pizza located in Heritage Square in Peoria Heights.
Brienzo’s has quite the saucy history, they started out as a mobile pizzeria in 2012 and then moved into a space in Junction City in 2014.
In 2018, they moved into this large space with a full outdoor patio as well as an inside dining room and bar.
They recently turned the front patio into an outdoor cocktail lounge and they still have seating on the side to enjoy your dinner outside. You can read all about the new outdoor cocktail lounge in this article from the PJ Star.
It’s about 197 degrees out here, so I think we’ll go inside and enjoy our lunch in air conditioned comfort!
You have to wait to be seated and I didn’t have to wait long for Anabel, who’s looking very cute by the way, to come along and help me find a table.
I decided to sit right here and no sooner did I sit down than Soloman came by with a glass of iced tea. I love it when that happens!
Okay, I’m early and our special guest won’t be here for a few minutes, so let’s go take some pictures while we wait.
There’s a shot of the dining room and comfortable booths line the walls in here.
There’s a nice wooden bar in the back of the room that faces the kitchen area.
Here’s the six beers on tap behind the bar.
Beau Landry is the co-owner in here and he arranged this group portrait for me to take!
From left: Caleb, Soloman, Beau, Olivia and Anabel. It’s all happening at the Neighborhood Hangout!
Meanwhile, back at our table…
Our special luncheon guest star has shown up and it’s my friend Kayla! Great to see her and she’s looking fabulous!
Kayla’s busy working several freelance jobs this summer as well as being a full-time member of the band, Lark’s Tongue which she’s pictured in above.
You can follow Lark’s Tongue and check out their live dates and new releases on facecrack and on Bandcamp.
After Kayla settled in we took a look at the menu and ordered our lunch.
We started off with two delicious and leafy green salads.
There’s Kayla digging in to her salad.
Our main courses have arrived!
Kayla got a luncheon pizza with artichoke hearts and pepperocinis.
I got an order of the dry rub chicken wings and lunch was delicious.
I had a nice visit and conversation with Kayla, it was great to see her and catch up on things!
Soloman took a picture of the two of us enjoying our lunch.
Thanks to him and everyone at Brienzo’s Wood Fired Pizza for a fun and delicious afternoon and thanks to Kayla for joining me and being this week’s luncheon guest star!
