This Friday marks the 56th anniversary of the first of three days of an event that was a big part of what would come to be known as “The Summer of Love.”
This event was the Monterey Pop Festival, a three day musical festival that featured established artists such as The Byrds, The Buffalo Springfield, Simon and Garfunkel and The Mamas and Papas, but more importantly it introduced new sounds from lesser known bands and artists such as The Who, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.

MBIP COMING ATTRACTIONS
Monday: I went to Good Tequila’s on Prospect on Saturday night. I hadn’t been there since it was T ’N T’s and it was a nice place for a Saturday night dinner.
Tuesday: I went to Two Sisters & Donna Jean’s Cafe for a grilled cheese sandwich and it was so good! Plus I forgot how fun it is to wander around this space!
Wednesday: There was a book celebration at Book Rack this Saturday and I stopped by and got some photos.
Thursday: Continuing our Summer Fare series, I stopped by Theo’s for a sweet and savory treat!
Friday: I’ll be sampling yet another entree from the Northwoods Mall, as I continue to eat the entire menu at Northwoods Mall.
Saturday: I’ll be looking backwards at Peoria’s past for another Meanwhile Back In Peoria’s Past post.
