Okay, time to grab some lunch and meet a friend who’s never been an MBIP luncheon guest of honor, so this is exciting!
Let’s get in the MBIP Mobile and head to this week’s luncheon destination which is located in West Peoria!
Here we are at this week’s luncheon stop, West Town Tap, the place formerly known as Champs West.
The sign next to the door says, “Open,” so let’s go inside and start this week’s luncheon adventure!
I walked in, got a place at the bar and Lori, the pretty bartender on duty served me up an iced tea.
I was a little early to meet our special luncheon guest star, so let’s take a look around in here.
There’s cocktail tables opposite the bar and gaming machines line the back wall of the bar area in here.
I love the Muhammad Ali poster over in the corner.
Our family moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1963 and I had the pleasure of meeting Muhammad back in the days when he was known as Cassius Clay when he lived in Louisville and was just starting out on the boxing circuit back then.
This is a long-shot of the bar from the furthest end in the back of the front room.
Here we are on the other side of the bar which has a dining room and there’s the nightly specials hanging on the wall.
Comfortable booths line the walls back in this room.
Meanwhile, back on the other side of the bar, I see a familiar face…
It’s this week’s luncheon guest star, David Von Behren!
David’s a great guy and we first met when he came to my last stop on my 365 Bar Crawl at Mike’s Tavern back in 2011!
David’s an original, prolific local writer and you can follow him on facecrack by clicking here.
To read some of his unique writing articles you can click on these following links to read from his treasure trove of writing online: Succulent Sobriety, Book Of Muses, He who lives in the moment lives eternally, Succulent Sobriety II and Pinta Parade.
Today he published a wonderful tribute to Mike Foster, check it out here.
That’s quite an impressive body of work and it’s great to see David again! Always nice to hang out with a kindred spirit!
Here’s Lori serving up this week’s lunch…
We got two items from the “Sharable” portion of the menu, the Pretzel Bites and the Ale Battered Shrimp.
All the food here is freshly prepared and very tasty and these two selections were simply delicious!
After lunch, John stopped in and it was great to see him at the bar.
Thanks to David for meeting this week and for being a first time luncheon guest star! It won’t be his last appearance!
