It’s hard to believe, but next Saturday marks the 22nd anniversary of the death of Joey Ramone. I was lucky enough to meet him and the other Ramones in 1993 at a book signing for Jim Bessman’s book, Ramones: An American Band. A few years later I would interview Marky Ramone for the first glossy issue of fishwrap.
I’ve been a Ramones fan since 1976 when their first album came out. I was a senior in high school and from the second the needle hit the vinyl, I was hooked! So I’m thrilled that I made a tiny Ramones connection while they were all still alive.
In honor of this dark anniversary, there are seven links to online articles about Joey Ramone and there’s also a link to a Joey Ramone interview from the Conan O’Brien Show.
And below that is the MBIP Coming Attractions for what’s coming up on the blog next week!

MBIP COMING ATTRACTIONS
Monday: Last night I had my first meal at Emo’s of the season. I had a chili-cheese dog, chili-cheese fries and a Butterscotch milkshake. There will be photos tomorrow. If creepy clowns scare you, you’ve been warned!
Tuesday: We continue the grilled cheese tour with a cheesy and tasty stop at Cyd’s in the Park.
Wednesday: I never knew that there were art studios within St. Paul’s Episcopal Church! I thought I might start to go around and visit art studios around town and decided to start there at the studios they call, North Art Studios! I went and met Julie Dodge who’s a photographer here in Peoria. I took photos of her studio and of her photography which is amazing!
Thursday: I mentioned the Peoria Camera Shop a couple week’s ago in a post and realized I hadn’t been there since their grand opening party. So I stopped in, had a chat with Ava the owners and of course took photos!
Friday: I’m starting a new series on Friday called Eating Northwoods Mall. We’ve counted all the gumballs, now we’re going to eat all the food! I’ll explain more at Friday’s post.
Saturday: We’ll take another trip back in Peoria’s time via yet another Meanwhile Back In Peoria’s Past post.
