I think I explained last month that we’re turning The Scott Turley Road Trip into a monthly feature. I love these road trips and it’s always nice to meet people outside of Peoria, most of whom have never heard of my blog.
Whoops-a-doozy, there’s a knock on the door…
Who could this shadowy figure be?
It’s none other than Scott Turley, MBIP Pal, Wheelman and the brains and planner behind these road trip postings!
Scott had seen that Perdue’s Grill in Tremont, Illinois was offering peanut butter and jelly wings and we thought that was worthy of a road trip to try such a unique dish out. Plus, we haven’t been to Perdue’s since a road trip back in 2014! As I always say, fun flies when you’re having time!
I had checked their facecrack page the night before to make sure they were open on Sunday and they listed their hours as being open until 9pm. Despite that, when we arrived at 3pm, we discovered they were closing due to lack of staff.
Shit. I guess today we’ll rename Perdue’s to Perdon’ts! Time to improvise!
Scott took a few turns and steered us over to the Burger Barge in East Peoria. I haven’t been here in years, so this was a good call! Maybe they have a peanut butter and jelly burger!
Let’s go in and find out!
You seat yourself, so I followed Scott to…
The bar! wow, this is a nice looking bar front!
Jeff was the friendly bartender on duty and we checked out the menu and placed our orders. Sadly, there was no peanut butter and jelly burger, but I found a selection taht was equally interesting!
Keep on scrolling to find out what we ordered!
There’s the beers on tap behind the bar and check out the framed photo of Captain Jinks and Salty Sam!
Scott pointed out the elephant below on the golden foot banister, very cool!
George and Monica were enjoying drinks at the end of the bar and it was nice to meet and chat with them.
I love that wooden guitar sculpture next to the Bloody Mary bar!
Over on the side wall are gaming machines for all of you gamblers out there!
The front room has boxed booths, tables and all kinds of games, giving it a real fun arcade kind of feel.
Meanwhile, back at the bar our appetizer of pretzel bites had been served up. They came with honey mustard sauce and Ranch dressing.
They were a delicious pre-burger treat!
Speaking of burgers, here’s Jeff serving us up our road trip burger selections!
Scott got the Original B.B. Burger which is a single burger, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, cheese and their signature dock sauce.
I went for the Steak and Egg Burger which is a burger topped with a fried egg, a slice of Ribeye steak, mushrooms, grilled onions and dock sauce. Whew, what a massive burger!
Both burgers look amazing! Time to dig in!
There’s Scott enjoying his B.B. Burger.
He said it was a delicious and satisfying burger!
This Steak and Egg Burger was off the charts delicious!
So many flavors and textures, it was kind of like a lunch and breakfast buffet on a toasted bun!
And the chips were homemade, crispy and a tasty treat!
This was a wonderful rebound and a delicious and fun road trip lunch at The Burger Barge in East Peoria!
Thanks as always to Scott for driving and hanging out and thanks to everyone at The Burger Barge for the fabulous food and hospitality!
We’ll see you in May for yet another Scott Turley Road Trip!
