When I asked for suggestions for this gooey tour of grilled cheese sandwiches, several people suggested Cyd’s in the Park. I didn’t know they had a grilled cheese, I guess I just never noticed it on the menu so I went and looked at the menu online and sure as the driven snow on a winter’s night, there it was!
The grilled cheese is available on Cyd’s lunch menu (lunch is served Wednesday through Saturday, 11AM to 3PM) and it’s part of the plate entrees because it’s paired with a cup of vegetarian tomato basil soup.
That sounds wonderful to me, let’s get in the MBIP Mobile and roll on over to Cyds in the Park!
If you’ve never been to Cyd’s in the Park, you need to get over here pronto!
It’s one of Peoria’s most unique places of business. There’s Cyd’s Take-Away Market and Cyd’s Grill…
Speaking of Cyd’s Grill, it’s right up these stairs, let’s go climb them and go through the door and begin our seventh week of this cheesy journey!
Wow, this will attest to the popularity of Cyd’s Grill, it’s jammed in here and it’s 1:30 in the afternoon!
I waited till this time thinking it would be after the lunch rush and it wouldn’t be that crowded, but I underestimated the drawing power of Cyd’s in the Park!
Luckily there were some seats available over at the Star Bar, which is where i was planning on sitting anyway, since I’m dining alone.
I got settled in and Jazmen delivered me an iced tea with a beautiful smile!
She took my grilled cheese order so let’s take a few pictures while we wait.
There’s a shot behind the bar, as you can see, they’re very well stocked!
There’s a half a dozen beers on tap as well.
There’s more tables and dining areas on either side of the main dining room.
They’ve got a glassed-in patio out in the back that’s really cool. I’ll go and take some photos of it after the grilled cheese because…
I just glanced back at the bar and I see a plate at my place! I think it’s…
Grilled cheese time!
Wow, this is a fabulous grilled cheese presentation! Both the grilled cheese and the tomato basil soup look absolutely fabulous!
Let’s try the soup first.
This tomato basil soup is unbelievable!
It’s a thick soup, kind of like a chowder and it’s so rich and full of creamy tomato flavor!
Now on to the star of the show…
The grilled cheese sandwich. This looks so cheesy and delicious!
The sandwich is made with a three cheese blend of Muenster, Provolone and Dill Havarti. It’s served with buttered and grilled Italian bread and it looks amazing! There’s a lot of cheese packed into this sandwich!
Of course I had to dunk the sandwich into the tomato basil soup for an extra blast of tomato flavor.
Wow, this is a truly outstanding gourmet grilled cheese sandwich!
That three cheese blend makes for an ultra-rich and tasty flavor. The Italian bread is buttery and grilled to perfection and this is a wonderful gourmet grilled cheese sandwich. The pairing of the tomato basil soup really adds to it as well!
After lunch I wandered over to the glassed-n porch area in the back of the building and saw a familiar face throwing some wood in the fireplace, Keith Cotton!
Keith is a photographer, sculptor and artist who’s work is original and unbelievable. You can check it out at his website by clicking here.
Keith and I strolled to the back garden area and I was amazed by all of the art and sculptures that Keith has created back here! It’s mind-blowing and there’s nothing better than getting your mind blown in the middle of the afternoon!
His work is so original and interesting to look at. I love how on a sunny day the shadows make their own ever-changing art.
In the summer they have live music and events back here, so check the Cyd’s in the Park facecrack page for updates and announcements.
Keith said he had the perfect words to close this post and showed me this button.
“Be The Strange You Want To See In The World.”
I love it! Thanks, Keith, wonderful to see and chat with you, as always!

Cheesy Rating
(4 Slice Rating System)
This is a top-shelf grilled cheese sandwich and with it paired with that fabulous tomato basil soup, it sends it to the moon!
i’ll give the sandwich a very high rating of three and three quarters slices of cheese and this is highly recommended. Get over to Cyd’s and try this soon. It’s available on the luncheon menu, Wednesday through Saturday, 11AM to 3PM.
