Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Jim’s Steakhouse and featuring special guest stars, Joe, Amber, Kristin, Gigi, Al and Mya!
Now, all the way from beautiful downtown Peoria, please welcome this week’s host, Jim’s Steakhouse!
Here we are at Jim’s Steakhouse in downtown Peoria! This is not only one of my favorite restaurants in Peoria, but one of my favorite restaurants of all time. And I lived in New York City for 19 years, so I’ve been to a fair share of restaurants and steakhouses in my day and Jim’s right at the top of the list!
Let’s take the elevator down and start this Saturday night at Jim’s Steakhouse. Check out the elevator, unplanned obligatory mirror shot! I love it when that happens!
This front foyer is so nice, we’ll come back and take a look at some of the pictures in here, but let’s get settled in at a table for now.
I see a couple familiar faces over there…
It’s my friends Amber and Joe! They’re both looking fabulous tonight and it’s always wonderful to see them!
They’re joining me for dinner tonight and I always love it when they do!
Gigi was our friendly waitress and she posed for a photo with Amber. A portrait of two pretty women!
I after I took the photo, Gigi took our dinner order.
Here’s two angles of their luxurious dining room. It’s so nice in here and I always say that this is the closest thing to a 4 star New York steakhouse in the area. I love the elegant yet welcoming atmosphere in here.
In my travels I ran into Kristen Comfort. Kristin’s grandparents started Jim’s Steakhouse back in 1960. Then her Dad, Tim took it over and now Kristin and her brother Nick are in charge of the operation. I’ve heard rumors that their dad, Tim still stops by to check up on things!
They’ve been operating in this location since 1992 and Jim’s Steakhouse is a true, Peoria historical landmark and restaurant!
Kristin said business has been wonderful and tonight’s full house is evidence of that! It so nice to see her and chat for a while with her!
There’s so many autographed photos of celebrities that have dined here and this is probably my favorite one: Warren Zevon.
It’s from April of 1994 and signed it, “Ahhoooo!” Ha ha ha!
Here’s some photos of Peorians who hit the big time, from the top, Dan Fogelberg, Sam Kinison, Richard Pryor and I love the last one, Vic Burnett.
Vic is the weatherman who changed my life, so I always like to look at this and think about what he did for me. Without Vic, you wouldn’t be reading this blog right now. If you’ve never read this story, check it out here: Vic Burnett The Weatherman Who Changed My Life.
When I got back to our table our salads were being served and that’s Al applying some black pepper to mine.
Al’s been working here since 1992 and I’ve taken his picture a couple of times. Always fun to chat with him!
Alright, here we go, the main courses have arrived and they look and smell like seventeen slices of heaven!
Amber got the Tortellini Michelangelo and Joe got the Cajun Ribeye with a Twice-Baked Potato. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the Twice-Baked Potato on the menu and it looks unbelievable! Next time I’m here, I have to order that, I may make a special trip here just to have that potato!
There’s Amber and Joe enjoying their meals. They raved about the food and it certainly looked fabulous and tasty. Especially that Twice-Baked Potato!
Just like Joe, I also got the Cajun Ribeye and it was so savory, just a little spicy and a delicious seasoned cut of steak.
I ordered rice as a side dish and I felt it was kind of mocking me every time I looked at that Twice-Baked Potato of Joe’s!
It was another out-of-this-world tasty dinner at Jim’s Steakhouse!
After dinner we traveled over to the bar for a couple after-dinner drinks. I love their bar and there’s the obligatory photo of the quartet of beers on tap.
Mya was the pretty bartender on duty and served up our drinks with a beautiful smile. It was great to meet her!
Thanks to everyone at Jim’s Steakhouse for a fun and delicious Saturday night in downtown Peoria!
And thanks to Amber and Joe for joining me, always a treat to spend a Saturday evening with those two!
