If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know I’m a big supporter of shopping locally…and if you’re not a regular reader…what the hell is wrong with you? You need to start reading MBIP every day and twice on Sundays!
Anyway, when it comes to shopping locally, one of my all time favorite shops in Peoria is Relics gift shop. It’s owned by Deb Opyd and she’s a genius at finding unusual and fun items that you can’t find anywhere in Peoria or on those pesky interwebs. And she’s one of the nicest persons in the world!
Having said all that, here’s a question: What’s better than having the Relics gift shop in Peoria?
The answer is: Having Relics in Peoria and East Peoria!
Deb has opened a second Relics in East Peoria and I’ve been meaning to get over there and look around and today is that day!
So let’s go over the river and through the woods to the new Relics in East Peoria…yahoo!

Relics In East Peoria
And through the miracle of those aforementioned interwebs, here we are at the Relics sister store in East Peoria. The place looks great!
Check out the windows, “Jewelry, Fun, Plants and Gifts.” Who could ask for anything more?
Not me, so let’s go inside and check it out!
I wish I had a wide angle lens to capture the entire store, it looks simply fabulous in here!
Rachid was behind the counter and he’s the Plantman of Relics. Check him out on facecrack at Plants, Peace & Love.
He’s a super nice guy and told me to feel free to take pictures and look around. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do!
Here’s a shot from the back of the store, as you can see it’s loaded with fun and unique plants, gifts, books and all kinds of treasures!
Ha ha ha! I love this! A true sign of the times!
There are so many fun and unforgettable items in here I could spend a week looking at everything!
If you can’t find a gift in here then you’re shoppingly-challenged!
Hey look, it’s my friend, Molly’s 100 Things To Do In Peoria book, very cool!
I’m actually shopping in here myself for a couple of gifts today. I’m having lunch tomorrow with two friends and I thought it would be fun to bring them each a gift from Relics.
This display caught my eye and it turns out that these earrings are locally made by jewelry designer, Laura Maushard.
Her jewelry line is called, Lauralai Jewelry and her handmade jewelry and earrings are available at both Relics stores.
I absolutely love how the packaging of the earrings is a piece of art unto itself! It’s kind of Andy Warholesque and genius work!
I chose Marilyn and Audrey and tomorrow you can see my two friends receiving these gifts at our lunch together! The fun just never ends here at MBIP, I tell ya!
Check out the new Relics in East Peoria when you get a chance. Deb has built another fun store for all of us to enjoy! Let’s all support both of her fun and unique gift shops!
