This week I re-watched Quentin Tarantino’s last film that he wrote, produced and directed, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which was released in 2019.
The film takes place in 1969 and Tarantino personally chose all the songs for the soundtrack from the late ’60’s. There’s all kinds of bands from the ’60s on the soundtrack including: Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Simon and Garfunkel, Deep Purple, Vanilla Fudge and many others.
Only one band has the honor of having three songs on the soundtrack and that group is one of my favorites from the ’60’s, Paul Revere and the Raiders!
Paul Revere and the Raiders were one of the few American bands in the mid ’60’s to rise to fame amongst the British Invasion. The band formed in 1962 and got their big break when Dick Clark chose them to be the house band on the TV show, “Where The Action Is.” This weekly TV exposure and the band’s unique revolutionary war costumes and goofy sense of humor led them to 14 top 40 hits between 1965 and 1971.
Below are seven links to online articles about Paul Revere and the Raiders and one classic video from “Where The Action Is.”
And then there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions as to what’s happening here next week!

MBIP Coming Attractions
Monday: I’m a little confused as to what to put up for tomorrow’s post. I tried twice to go to the Fish House, but both times it was just slammed. I may try to go back tonight or maybe I’ll go somewhere for a late lunch today. Time will tell, tune in tomorrow!
Tuesday: I’m getting near the end of the Keens Steakhouse Goldbelly Box, but this week I took a sirloin steak from it and made my own version of a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. For my Peoria Cheesesteak Sandwich I used Jalapeño Cheese from Castle’s Patio Inn and the bun was locally sourced and made by LeBakery. It was delicious!
Wednesday: I went to the First Friday Art Show at the Peoria Art Guild downtown and saw two nice exhibits and visited their Letterpress Department.
Thursday: My friend and local author Tricia/P.A. Nimmo had a book signing at I Know You Like A Book in Peoria Heights and I went and took some photos of Tricia and the lovely book shop.
Friday: I’ll be featuring another Fast Food Friday episode from my Midwest Slice Of Life YouTube channel.
Saturday: We’ll be looking back at the past for another Meanwhile, Back In Peoria’s Past post.
