The groundbreaking film, “Midnight Cowboy” was released on May 25, 1969, making it 53 years old just a couple of weeks ago.
This was a popular but controversial movie back then because it dealt with not only straight sex, but homosexual sex and that got it an X-rating back in 1969. It ended up winning three Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, making it the only X-Rated film in history to have won the Best Picture Academy Award.

Monday: I went to Kelleher’s Irish Pub and enjoyed a nice Saturday Night dinner and also enjoyed the musical stylings of the Jonny Quest Band at the weekend outdoor street party on Water Street.
Tuesday: The Dog Days Of Summer continue as I sample a cheese dog from Emo’s, a classic Peoria spot for hot dogs and ice cream treats!
Wednesday: Two rooms in MBIP World Headquarters are pretty much all filled up and decorated! I’m so grateful that most of my framed pictures survived the fire! Tom and Nate from Technicraft came out last Friday and in stalled pictures in both rooms and I’m going to have action shots of that and photos of the rooms all put together.
Thursday: Last January, Haddad’s on Main Street got a free makeover/renovation courtesy of “Revamp Peoria.” I’ve been wanting to go visit it and I finally did for a “Lunch At First Bite” post, with a special guest star!
Friday: It’s back to the grill for another Please Grill Me segment. This week I’m making a dry-rub rib sandwich. I’ve never made dry-rub ribs before, so I’m excited to try this new recipe!
Saturday: We’ll be looking backwards again as we present another edition of, Meanwhile, Back In Peoria’s Past.
