I thought that for for this week we’d grill up a white-trash treat, a grilled bologna sandwich.
This is going to be a quick and easy meal on the grill with an equally easy and tasty side dish.
We have a simple quartet of ingredients this week, clockwise from left: Velveeta Slices, Texas Toast, Compleats Macaroni and Cheese and Oscar Mayer Thick Cut Bologna.
We’ll preheat the grill to 400 degrees for fast and easy cooking today!
The Compleats mac and cheese cooks up in 60 seconds and into the microwave that goes…
Next we’ll put two slices of buttered Texas Toast on the pre-heated grill and cover.
The mac and cheese is nuked and now we’ll add some hot sauce, black pepper and Velveeta Slices on top and back into the microwave it goes!
Okay, I’ve brought the bologna and cheese out to the grill and the Texas Toast is nicely charred and crispy. We’ll put those slices on the top rack of the grill to keep them warm.
Then the bologna is slapped onto the grill and one of the slices came apart and fell to the bottom.
Since this is an electric grill and not charcoal, we can retrieve that slice in a minute and still add it to the sandwich.
I added cheese to the other two slices…
And I added the slice of cheese that was going to be place on the third, onto this slice of Texas Toast. Sometimes you have to improvise and think fast on your footsies as you’re grilling!
Okay, I’ve layered the bologna and cheese slices onto a slice of the Texas Toast and I think we’re ready to present this week’s grilled meal in record time, no less!
Spiced up Mac and Cheese and a Grilled Bologna Cheese Sandwich prepared in about five minutes flat!
We’ll start off with a can of Budweiser and dig into the Mac and Cheese first.
Oh my god, this was a pleasant surprise!
I wasn’t expecting this to be that great, but it was a tasty treat!
The Velveeta Slices added a super-rich flavor and it was countered well with the spicy hot sauce and black pepper.
We’re off to a tasty start to this week’s grilled meal!
The one ingredient we still need to add to the grilled bologna and cheese sandwich is French’s Classic Yellow Mustard.
This is a must for any type of grilled bologna sandwich. No fancy-ass Grey Poupon mustard for this white trash treat, it’s got to be French’s Yellow Mustard!
Oh my god, this is so flavorful and delicious!
The grilled bologna is salty and savory and it blends nicely with the rich and creamy Velveeta cheese and the mustard adds a nice sharp and zippy flavor to the mix!
The Texas Toast is crisp and buttery and this was one delightful and quick grilled meal!
