Live from East Peoria, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Jonah’s Seafood House & Oyster Bar and featuring a multitude of guest stars to be announced soon!
Now please welcome, this week’s host, all the way from East Peoria, Jonah’s Seafood House & Oyster Bar!
Here’s the first guest star of the evening, Jim Borho!
We’re heading over to Jonah’s Seafood House & Oyster Bar In East Peoria to meet the other guest stars of the evening. Jim was nice enough to pick me up and now through the magic of these here interwebs…
Baboom, here we are at Jonah’s Seafood House & Oyster Bar! Let’s go inside and let this Saturday Night begin!
They have a really nice bar in here and there were two bartenders on duty, but they were a little camera-shy, so manager Tim (I think that’s his name, but I forgot to write it down, so I could be wrong) stepped behind the bar for a photo.
Thanks Tim and hopefully that’s your name!
As you can see, the restaurant is large and there’s several dining rooms to eat in, there’s also the Oyster Bar next door!
Here’s the next special guest star, our friendly waitress, Jessica! She was really nice and I threw her for a loop and asked her if she’d marry me! I never really got an answer, so only time will tell!
In the meantime, Jessica kindly volunteered to take a photo of the table-full of special guest stars for the evening!
Well, the sun kind of made everyone a silhouette, so we had a drink and about a half an hour later, I took a photo of the table.
Alright, this one turned out a lot better, especially since I’m not in it!
These are all friends of mine who were meeting for dinner, they are (clockwise from left): Kay Southey, the aforementioned Jim Borho, Jack Garrison, Dori Garrison and Tim Southey. It’s so great to see all of them!
This is an annual birthday dinner they do, because Kay, Dori and Joe and Connie Waugh’s birthday’s all happen at this time of year and they all get together. It’s even announced on the top of the menu!
Tim got hold of me because he found some of my brother Jim’s artwork and wanted to give the pieces to me. So he invited me along and then I invited Jim along too for a nice surprise!
Wait a second…where’s Joe and Connie? At the last minute after this dinner was scheduled, they ended up flying to Florida. I have no idea why, but I’m guessing Ron DeSantis has asked them to come to the Sunshine State to scream at kids wearing masks…but that’s just a guess.
If you’re reading this Joe and Connie, you missed a hell of a dinner, hope to see you both next time! Tell Ron I said hi!
There’s the view from our window, I think Joy Behar is out there somewhere.
We started this lively evening with drinks and a lot of laughs!
Before you know it, dinner was served! I got the Deep Fried Wild Caught Gulf Shrimp with a side order of their Sweet Au Gratin potatoes. The meal looks amazing!
The shrimp was breaded in a Panko bread crust and they’re deep-fried. They were crisp and tasty on the outside and juicy and plump on the inside. Simply delicious!
The Sweet Au Gratin Potatoes were so tasty!
This is a unique way of serving up this dish. The potatoes are cut in rounds and they’re topped with a little bacon and the cheese sauce is rich and has a subtle sweet flavor to it. These are downright decadent and a real taste-treat!
Everyone raved about the food, thanks to Jessica and everyone at Jonah’s for an outstanding dinner!
After dinner, Tim presented my brother Jim’s artwork to me. It was so cool to see some of his hand-drawings from the past. I really want to thank Tim and Kay for bringing this artwork to me, it really means a lot to me!

Everyone at the table was a really good friend of Jim’s and it was so wonderful to hang out with them and see his artwork!
After dinner, we wanted to have another drink or three but the bar at Jonah’s was packed, so we went next door to check out the bar in this hotel.
It was a nice, quaint little hotel bar called the Loose Moose Saloon.
This is Whitney the bartender and she was so nice and friendly!
If my engagement to Jessica falls through, I think I’ll come over here and see if Whitney will marry me!
Thanks to this week’s special guest stars, it was great to catch up with everyone and have lots of drinks and laughs!
I’m hoping we do this again soon and maybe Joe and Connie can join us next time!

Sad news hit hard last weekend, a longtime friend of mine, Chris Cassidy passed away.
I was friends with Chris since grade school and I lived with him and Jeff “Moon” Stokowski in the kookiest household of all time on the corner of Douglas and Russell back in the ’80’s.
Chris was a great friend and a wonderful husband to his wife Nancie, pictured above from this blog post.
I’m sad that Chris is gone, but grateful for his friendship through the years and wonderful memories. Chris will live on in stories and memories from his family and his many friends.
Cheers to you, Chad-Dad, I’ll be thinking of you often.
