Live, from Peoria, Illinois it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Mediterranean And More! and featuring special guest star, “The Owner.”
Now please welcome, the newest restaurant on Main Street, Loaded Mediterranean And More!
Here we are at Loaded Mediterranean And More! I like the outside signage, very colorful. Let’s go in and start this week’s Saturday night adventure!
It’s very nice in here, I came kind of late, so I’m the only one in here.
You order up here at the counter and there’s the menu on the back wall.
I met the owner up here and he was a little camera-shy and didn’t want his picture taken. He was really nice though and told me his name and I forgot to write it down so we’ll just refer to him as, “The Owner.:
He said that they just opened up a couple weeks ago and that the place is kind of a work in progress right now.
They have Mediterranean dishes on the menu as well as other choices including, Philly Cheesesteak and cheeseburgers. “The Owner” recommended the gyro and that’s what I had in mind anyway, so that’s what I ordered.
He went back to the kitchen to prepare this gyro meal and he told me it was fine to take photos in here, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do!
This front case features fresh Baklava pastry.
Okay let’s find a spot to settle into for our Saturday night dinner.
I chose this table…
And here’s the view from where I’m seated.
Before you know it, dinner has arrived. Wow, that’s a big order of French Fries and they were seasoned and delicious.
“The Owner” told me that he blends his own seasoning for the fries and he said that all the seasonings and sauces for his dishes are house-made.
He told me that every dish he serves has it’s own special flavor that can only be found here.
I ordered an appetizer of chicken wings. They have several house-made sauces to choose from and I went with the hot wings and they were juicy, tasty and just like “The Owner” promised, they had a nice unique flavor to them.
And now for the star of the show, the Gyro!
It’s loaded with beef slices and it’s topped off with lettuce, onion tomato, pickled cabbage and their special house-made gyro sauce, wrapped in a puffy pita pocket.
It looks and smells fantastic!
Wow, this is the best gyro I’ve ever had!
The beef is succulent and tender, the toppings provide a nice and flavorful crunch, the house-made sauce adds a rich and creamy layer to the mix and the giant pita pocket is pillowy and bakery fresh.
In my travels, I’ve probably sampled every gyro in Peoria and I definitely think that this is the best one in town.
“The Owner” also told me he prides himself on his cheeseburger and I told him I’d be back soon to try that out. Stay tuned for that and check this place out soon!
