Okay, this is the fifth and final week for the Little Golden Lunch from Goldbelly’s Taste of New York box.
This is going to be East meets Midwest as I cook up a fried bologna sandwich on an Ess-a-Bagel.
And at the bottom of the post is the reveal of where the next Goldbelly box is from that we’ll be sampling in the next few weeks!
But for now…let’s cook!
So today we’re making a fried bologna sandwich using this sesame rye bagel from Ess-a-Bagel from New York City!
Bagels are an East Coast treat and fried bologna is definitely a Midwestern dish, so this brings the two cultures together. You can all thank me later…or thank me right now if you feel like it!
Here’s the ingredients for this bagel sandwich, clockwise from left: an onion, Field Thick Sliced Bologna, the Ess-a-Bagel and Velveeta Cheese Slices. This will be a simple sandwich to make and it’s going to go quickly!
Here we go!
We’ll start off by buttering up the bagel and putting it under the broiler and browning both sides of the bagel for maximum crispness.
Next we place the bologna onto a hot buttered pan, season the slices and brown them up.
They cook quickly and in minutes they’re done and we remove them and…
Fry up the onions in the same pan and before you know it, it’s time to start assembling this bagel sandwich!
We put two slices of cheese on the well done bagel, then add the bologna, more cheese, a liberal dose of Sweet and Spicy Sandwich Pal Mustard and then top it off with the grilled onions.
Here’s the open faced fried bologna Ess-a-Bagel sandwich. It looks amazing!
It was so tasty! The seasoned bologna was spicy, the Velveeta cheese was a rich and creamy counterpoint and the Ess-a-Bagel was a tasty base for this wonderful open-faced savory sandwich!
Okay, this concludes the Goldbelly’s Taste of New York box.
It’s time to move on to another box from the Goldbelly site.
Ringo, can you give us a drumroll as we prepare to reveal the next Goldbelly box we’re going to start eating?
Thanks, Ringo and here it is, the next Goldbelly box!
