So this week I’m wasting my precious time…err…I mean I’m scrolling through facecrack posts and all of a sudden I saw this:
Bourbon Bacon Caramel Apple Crisp with Caramel and Vanilla Ice Cream?
One thing flashed through my mind after reading this and looking at that photo: The Friday Sweet Spot!
Let’s get over to Waters Edge Winery & Bistro and try this sweet concoction out, right here and right now!
And here we are at Waters Edge Winery and Bistro.
It’s located in Heritage Square in Peoria Heights, right above Brienzo’s Wood-Fired Pizza.
You just walk up the stairs and baboom—there you are at Waters Edge Winery and Bistro. Wow, check out the nice patio balcony out front!
But we’re going inside so let’s head on in!
I got there at 3PM, right when they open, so I was the only one in there and I had the place to myself.
Well except for these two guys, they are Chris, on the left, who’s the General Manager and Michael who owns the restaurant and bar.
They both remembered me from when I had dinner in here with my friends Sheila and Linda. That was almost a year ago, I need to stop in here for another dinner soon! Sheila and/or Linda, if you’re reading this, let’s make a date! That was a wonderful dinner!
I placed my order for the sweet dessert and Michael told me to feel free to roam and take some photos, so that’s exactly what I did!
They not only have a large selection of wine that they sell in here and they also have their own in-house wine distillery where the make their own wine selections to sell at the restaurant!
This is one of the few places in town that makes their very own wine and its what sets this place apart from other wine restaurants in town.
And if you’re not into wine, this place isn’t a wine snobbery bistro, they also have a full bar with four rotating draft selections.
Two of them are from the Bearded Owl, which is locally brewed beer! Cheers to the locally-brewed beer selections!
And check out the massive beer selection in here!
They have a large selection of what owner Michael calls, “retro beers,” including Schlitz, Old Style, Blatz, Stag, Hamms and Busch beer. I love it!
Here’s another shot of the dining room, there’s leather booths off to the left and a lounge area with comfy chairs up front.
Check out the wine breakfront over in the corner with bottles from their wine distillery and glasses to pour them out into.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, Executive Chef, Shane serves up an order of the Bourbon Bacon Caramel Apple Crisp with Caramel and Vanilla Ice Cream.
It looks as marvelous as it sounds!
What combination of flavors and textures in one bowl! I can’t wait to dig in to this sweet mixture!
Oh my god!
This is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life!
The bottom is a warm crisp apple mixture and above that is vanilla ice cream covered in caramel. There’s smoky chunks of bacon that give it a nice salty edge to the sweetness and they blend together so well.
Plus there’s bourbon in it!
You can only get this at Waters Edge Winery & Bistro and I highly recommend that you stop by and try it out. There’s also a wonderful bistro menu, a large selection of wine, some of it distilled in-house and a nice beer and drinks selection in here!
It’s an all-one house stop for all of your drinking and dining needs here in Heritage Square!
In a word, I’d have to say this is a sweet spot to stop at in Peoria Heights!
