This week we enter a new genre as we eat our way through every pizza in Peoria. This genre is the gas station pizza.
Right now I know of only three gas station stops: Hucks, Circle K and this week’s gas station pizza stop, Casey’s General Store. If you know of anymore, please let me know.
So it’s off to Casey’s we go.
There’s more than one Casey’s in Peoria, but I thought I’d go to the one on Farmington Road for this post. And I should note, that in the case that there’s more than one place of business, we’re only eating pizza at one of them.
So this Farmington Road stop is it for my Casey’s Pizza stops.
And while it claims it’s a “General Store” it’s actually…
Just a gas station and hence this is a gas station pizza stop.
But they do have home made pizza, so let’s stop on in.
Oh, look, they also have donuts. Mmm…donuts!
Check out this cardboard cutout…is this Dave Matthews? What the fuck are you doing in here, Dave?
Okay, here we are at the pizza area for Casey’s General Store.
There’s only three slices available here and that’s kind of sad.
I chose the slice on the bottom level to try out.
And of course I had to sample something from the bakery in here.
Okay, let’s pay for the pizza and check out of here.
Here we are in the MBIP World Headquarters mobile.
There’s our slice of pizza and the mystery baked item I got from the donut stand.
Let’s see how this slice of pizza tastes.
It’s got a nice thin crust, but I have to say that it looks like it was sitting out all day.
Let’s take a bite and see how this week’s pizza rates.
I’ve had Casey’s pizza before and it was always a nice surprise as to how it was fresh and tasty.
Well this slice is not all that. It’s stale, tasteless and I think it was sitting on that rack all day long.
This is quite a disappointment as I thought this would be a decent slice of pizza from past experiences.
This was really a bad slice of pizza.
Sadly it gets the first sub-standard rating of this tour, I’m giving it a 3.3 rating. Judging by this slice I can’t recommend Casey’s pizza.
However, I got an apple fritter from their bakery section and it was a sweet treat. It was fresh and very delicious, so at least this wasn’t a complete waste of a stop!
